That image on the album though - it's bloody rotating

Hmmm... there's certainly free speech here, but RP is more like a benevolent dictatorship than a democracy.
As it should be!
I never skip on RP. But this is one few artist I do turn down

My wife is a huge Dave Matthews fan and I have attended a few shows with her. Great band and he has talent.... If his voice doesn't suit you move along.
The worse thing an artist can do is to try to please everyone.
So, we've learned (1) there are a lot of Dave Matthews haters listening to RP, and (2) Bill likes him and he will occasionally be played.
Skip it if you don't like it; jam with Dave if you do.
Stop with the "Oh God, this hurts my ears!" comments.
Thanks to Dave Mattews i found PEARadio!!!! Everytime RP plays something unbearable - like this - I just change station for a few minutes.

I'm really conflicted about how to respond to this comment.. On the one hand, it's just sooo whiiiny. Just get over yourself already. On the other hand... that is superb fat cat art. So net zero, I guess?
2 plays in the last 30 days = that's enough for the next decade.

My daddy always said if you can't say something good dont say nothing at all and I try my best to adhere. But this guys voice must be an acquired taste.

Very well stated!

Radioparadise allows for a democracy with listener comments. Comments are no less welcome (within reason of course) if they are not expressing love for the tune in question. This is why I am going to take advantage of this freedom and offer this; Dave Matthews' voice is a massive sensory annoyance. It would please me enormously if he removed that grass blade stuck in his nose causing that vile effect it has on his voice.
OK Zippy, if you don't like him, that is what the "Skip Button" is for! ...it appears that a lot of other listeners on RP, like Dave Matthews.

The oppression is palpable. You might not make it through this great trial. Thoughts and prayers going out.
Guys voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Nevermind.

Thanks for the example.
A solid 9 for me.
RP could play better much better material from DMB, however. Then RP plays the overplayed Fadeaway, which I also happen to like.
...If it's open to such things.
As an Egyptian and a Seattleite, I'm not sure if I agree with your analogy or if I'm offended! Just kidding of course, and Dave is a really cool guy I've met him a few times when i lived in Seattle and still I'm not a fan of the music; more respect I guess.
My wife and I play a game where we imagine we just met and think about what bands would have been deal-breakers if the other person liked/loved/listened-to them. DMB = deal-breaker.

Nice Try. But this guys voice is pure hell for me.

no, i think it is a good parody

no, i think it is a good parody
just saying..
The trick is to imagine that it is Jack Black singing. Then it becomes hilarious.
Thank you so much for the guidance Hannio. I'm picturing Jack with Tenacious D and I can almost handle it.
Sorry, but I agree. This is hideous, to my ears. Instant PSD now, and wait for the next gem from RP.

Go deaf?
Well, maybe it's me whose ears are ageing, but I really find him quite out of tune on this song
The trick, AhhtheMusic, is not minding that it hurts.
DMB's songs seem to be either really well crafted or meandering half-distracted entries in a private diary. This one definitely falls into the latter category...and then all the down to the floor. Best left in the 90s.
On 2nd listen,definite 'Sucko, Barfo'
Well at least you got to see Gary Clark.
Love this song and much of DMB's early stuff... the first 3-4 albums have some truly amazing music (and some I can do without)... his concerts and live recordings were fantastic in the early 2000s (probably still are). I don't know his later stuff as well but have heard a few nice tracks. All in all, I don't see how he and the whole band could be considered anything less than a hugely important and influential band. No doubt that they’ll be in the R&R Hall of Fame someday.
I see a lot of the DMB bashing as simply popularity-backlash. There's no way this many people can't hear the beauty in his music. It's a bit trendy to not like DMB.
Also, people should not bash him personally. I live in Seattle, as does Dave, and i know folks whose kids go to school with his kids. From what i hear, he's simply one of the nicest, most sincere and most involved parents at the school (and the folks who say this are not "star-struck": in fact they're not 'music people' and had never really heard his anything by him until long after they met him).
I wouldn't necessarily characterize not liking his music as "bashing", although comments here often (unfortunately) lean that way (pro and con). I find most of his music repetitive and boring. This one is not so bad. I can only speak for myself and I hold little regard for what is "trendy". The "beauty" of the music is in the eye of the beholder. I get irritated by the comments that insist that we must like/dislike this band, that singer or whatever. I don't know him and certainly have no reason to bash him personally either. He might be a great human being, I don't know. I do know that I'm a great human being, but NOBODY wants to hear me sing!!!

Ouch!
Live at Luther College is the best album in my entire library. I've had it on repeat since 1999 (when I'm not listening I rp!).
Agreed
I've tried, I know he/they are popular and I respect others' opinions. But, no.
Took me forever to find this version, it is actually from a disc called, " Live At Luther College." I think it's finally on iTunes.

How has no one noticed the brilliance of this comment?
Brilliance Indeed. Toke Toke.
I listen to rp to avoid crap like this...Now, put the bong down, let the haze clear and give it another listen. See?! Horrible!
Much like Talking Heads, and even more people can't understand THEIR popularity.
I used to dislike DMB, now I can't get enough. Saw them twice at The Gorge...now that was an experience.
I must disagree. Talking Heads are/were worlds more challenging, both musically and thematically. I can tolerate this band, a bit, but must agree with those who find this performance to be meandering and borderline musical. I lived in Charlottesville for a time and was intrigued to learn that DM based his band there, but geographic familiarity can only go so far. In essence, the dude does not sing very well and seems to have a limited conceptual and musical range.
especially the fellow davehead getting the post dave head...

Thank you for sharing! I have been searching since I heard this the other day. Loved it.

whoever Irma is, she's got a great dmb song about her!
