I think Rhythm of the Saints gets lost in the shadow of Graceland. It's a somewhat more introspective, mellow record so maybe that's why?
Not sure but I've always preferred it to Graceland.

YES! Agree with your observation about the arrangement and pace. Have always loved this song, and Rhythm of the Saints in general. And maybe I'm biased, but I do feel Mr. Simon was "born at the right time"... and on the right date, too. Because we share a birthday, which was yesterday.

A great thing w paul simon you can track his evolution pretty damn clearly and still love his garfunkelest beginnings & that considerable loss to now when he don't need no body but the whole world singing along with him

One of the few live songs where I prefer the audience screaming to the artist's singing. Yeah, I know, you hadda be there, but I wasn't. In gigs like this, I wonder what roadies do with all the knickers that are thrown on the stage?

I couln't disagree more. That's not to say that his pre-'75 stuff is bad. It's great too, but he's created so much amazing stuff (including this beautiful song) in his career that he should have a galaxy, or at least a solar system, named after him.

It's a good album but I find the "live" recording a bit too finessed. Still, it makes for a nice greatest-hits type album.
