Here comes old Rosie she's looking mighty fine
Here comes hot Nancy she's steppin' right on time
There go the street lights bringin on the night
Here come the men faces hidden from the light
All through the shadows they come and they go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
Here comes the rich man in his big long limousine
Here comes the poor man all you got to have is green
Here comes the banker and the lawyer and the cop
One thing for certain it ain't never gonna stop
When it all gets too heavy
That's when they come and go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
It happens out in Vegas happens in Moline
On the blue blood streets of Boston
Up in Berkeley and out in Queens
And it went on yesterday and it's going on tonight
Somewhere there's somebody ain't treatin' somebody right
And he's looking out for Rosie and she's looking mighty fine
And he's walking the streets for Nancy
And he'll find her everytime
When the street light flicker bringing on the night
Well they'll be slipping into darkness slipping out of sight
All through the midnight
Watch 'em come and watch 'em go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
Oh, burning down below
It happens out in Vegas, it happens in Moline
On the blue blood streets of Boston
Up in Berkeley and out in Queens
And it went on yesterday and it's going on tonight
Somewhere there's somebody ain't treatin' somebody right
And he's looking out for Rosie and she's looking mighty fine

And when the street light flicker bringing on the night
Well they'll be slipping into darkness slipping out of sight
All through the shadows
Watch 'em come and watch 'em go
Oh, they go
With only one thing in common
They got the fire down below
They've got one thing in common
They've got the fire down below
Only got one thing in common

Bob Seger is hit or miss for me. I like this tune in spite of the fact that it was severely overplayed on the radio.

2 rules for my music selection /selector - no Mellencamp and no Seeger .
to each his own but this is where I change the channel to one of the other Mix channels

At least it's not Old Time Rock n Roll... radio ruined that for me
Ahhh Seger, takes me right back to when I was 14. Even then I couldn't stomach this tripe.
Clear Channel ruined this for me years ago. I've heard way too many times to like it anymore. Meh...
Liking it feels like a guilty pleasure.

Why the f*** not!? I think lame is a pretty accurate description.

Love the lyrics, loved Bobs' version 25 years ago........
Surely someone could do this song better?
Sorry Bob, that's a little harsh...........
Uh, lame.
Tom Jones (on the Talking Heads) to Bob Seger. Hail YOU BG and I'll have what you are having!!! Rock and roll.
Thanks for playing this. Bob expresses in song that which middle America (both geographic and age) feels but can't write. The slide on this track is killer. The story on the slide player; he was a stage hand who Bob heard playing and asked to contribute to the track.

You sound like my father and I'm 50!
Lyrics right out of the Bible ....
Man, you turn into a Suit, you be false, you be bad with other folks ... then you got to look forward to the Fire.
And where's that Fire?
Down Below Sucker, Down below!
Signify Honey, that Fire Down Below!
Look Out Now, Here it comes and you going to burn ...
Somewhere Somebody Ain't Treating Somebody Right?
Dang! It's too hot down here!
When do I get out of dis nasty place?
Heh, joke's on you, Ace,
You ain't gettin' outta tis Space ...
It's the Fire ....

If you people had ever actually had the "fire down below" maybe we'd see some higher ratings here
I did have it, took some pills now I'm ok. I blame the girl next door! Great song though!
Bob is one of those artists that has to be seen live to be truly appreciated. Even at this late stage of his career, his live show is still one of the best in American rock and roll.

Guess you had to go to school in the MidWest.
After a long time of listening to him....still fun, still enthusiastic, and still makes me turn the volume up.

I second that motion.

Another artist I wouldn't have expected to hear here. But his body of work has some excellent material and, though it's true that Seger can be heard extensively on "Classic Rock" stations, I don't listen to them and so I'm not bothered by hearing him on RP. I will say that he has songs that I prefer to this.
