Wow when this song came on I looked at the album cover and thought the guy was Natalie Merchant for a second. The resemblance must be telling because that was the very next song played.
I KNEW that was Kevin Welch the minute he opened his mouth!  Come back to Wimberley Tx soon Mr. Welch....LOVE your music and your words!

Backup vocals remind me of early Little Feat.
Fiddle reminds me of Papa John Creach w/Hot Tuna

good call on both

I know some folks from Trashville who know this ol' kid. He's a jim-dandy musician, and supposedly a pretty good ol' boy. I'm glad to see him on here. {#Wave}

WOOOO HOOOOO! I never did get these lyrics to Betterdaze! There's gonna to be two dates
On your tombstone.
All your friends'll read 'em.
All that's gonna matter
Is the little dash
Between 'em.

Yeah...that's a really good lyric!

Kevin is one of my favorite songwriters.....did a gig with him once in WV and he is a really nice "real" guy as well.

Life up here in Paradise!
How I love this song ... have I mentioned that? And it really is wonderful to hear this morning, when I'm a little grumpy!
This is incredibly uplifting. It gets a 7, cool song!!

That would be The Fairfield Four (according to my copy of this GREAT cd).
He's a cutie ... sounds good too.

Met Kevin years ago at a record store in Amarillo, Texas after he had written a tribute to route 66 called the mother road. Super nice guy and young girls were melting when he sang. Glad to hear more from him after so long even if it is several years old.
two dates on a tombstone and all that matters is the dash between them...huh not bad
This is pleasantly reminiscent of Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline album.
Country-fried.

How the hell did you get those guys to bounce to the beat? Well, almost. LOL.
Nothing lower than a '3'...as of 12:54, 1/6/05.
Kevin Welch is mighty fine. Ever since he told Nashville to shove it, he's made amazing stuff. The album before this "Western Beat" is the kind of record where the tracks follow each other so well. I caught Kevin playing with Jimmie LaFave during a tribute to Woody Guthrie that was just so intimate. All the performers made it feel like you were sitting down with a bunch of Woody's old friends. Catch Kevin performing with Kieran Kane.
