Baby, Would you eat that there snack cracker
In your special outfit for me, please?
Yo ye pharoahs, let us walk
Through this barren desert, in search of truth
And some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers.
Baby, you make me wanna walk like a camel.
Walk!
Who's in charge here?
Where's my Captain's wafers?
Don't go around hungry now, the way you eat that oatmeal pie,
Makes me just wanna die, baby!
You make me wanna walk like a camel.
Walk!
Say, you don't think there's any way I can get that quarter
From underneath your pointy boot, do ya?
All I want is just one more oatmeal pie.
Little Debbie, Little Debbie!
I'm a'comin on home, baby, 'cause you make me wanna walk
Like a camel
In your special outfit for me, please?
Yo ye pharoahs, let us walk
Through this barren desert, in search of truth
And some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers.
Baby, you make me wanna walk like a camel.

S'ok, you blend in with all the other people in Walmart mumbling to themselves.
Whenever I'm in the cracker aisle at Target, I have to mumble to myself: Who's in charge here? Where's my Captain's Wafers?
Side note: Captain's Wafers are the best sandwich snack cracker. I will die on this hill.

If you don’t understand this song, you’re not cool.

It's the little things....
My question is how close is this to reality. Does the song writer require his crush to eat an oatmeal pie and step on a quarter in pointy boots in order for him to get of? If not, then how did he come up with the idea? Or is this all just a deep metaphor for ... something?
7, maybe even 8....oh, the lyrics!!!

SNACK CRACKERS!
Yikes, that was a particularly bad trainwreck coming out of Stray Cats Rock This Town. Queue started a bit early?
Great Live band @ the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto!
In the movie "Sling Blade" the boys had their own band and would sit around the living room and front porch making all sorts of noise. This song reminds me of that.
Great movie though if you haven't seen it.

You're starting to lose it, Mr. Bill.
A truly original idea in music. Love this band and what they do. "The Corn Rocket" is a personal favorite. Heard them first hear on RP. Payed cash money for everything the ever released.
Not a good listen. It hurts.
It's not really SCOTS without Leslie Land on bass.
this is exactly what I needed to hear right now...
Easy 10. One of my all-time favorite bands!

Dusty bottomed Wranglers. Sweaty brow. Beer in hand. Swaying hips. Love it!
Southern culture has always been on the skids, and us natives are quite proud of the way it slithers and slides .... kind of like how a camel walks if'n it was wearing pointy boots.
YEEEEHAW, baby!
YEEEEHAW, baby!
If you're an American, it's divine madness! Nothing quite like it....
Yes, MORE PSYCHOBILLY!

One of the most fun bands you'll ever see live. Rick Miller is a Surfabilly God, and Mary will steal your heart.
"On the skids" indeed. Awful.
1990 or so, these guys just laid waste to a small packed club in lil ole Gainesville...will never forget it...
Yeah babeh! Bill, your KPIG roots are showing ;-)
Love SCotS.
Love SCotS.
Ok now, howzabout some Captain Beefheart?!

Weird Al just released Lame Claim to Fame today. Not a direct parody of this song, but surely "in the style of". The style and guitar line are dead on. And I wouldn't have known if it hadn't been for RP.
It's a good idea to stay away from anyone who sounds remotely similar to that guy.
Way too funny................Help!
G'damn I love this song...."Little Debbie, Little Debbie I'm-a-comin-on home bayyybeeeee!!!!"
haa gotta love it..
Pour it on boys!
What fun it is listening to this on beautiful morning, it makes you just want to get up and dance.
Not the B52's ?
for me, a good chance to see if the PSD button still works.
SCOS usually not my style, but this is what I needed on this already overworked Monday morning...
SCOS Kicks butt
Gritty!

I Love it. Makes me smile now, just as it did then.
Okay, now I understand why people like this band.

@bladerunner - Where are you from? I'm from Memphis, TN and I think this is "Most Excellent". Maybe it's a cultural thing.
Just one more oatmeal pieâŠ
this is awful crap
I saw these guys at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass last year. They rocked out and put on a great show, go-go dancer and all.
Little Debbie...Little Debbie!
Thanks for playing this song, one of the best on the lp.
It don't matter if your pants are shiny......
Awwwww! Little Debbie! I'm coming on home!
Hey! You're playing my song!
I remember that in some select retail outlets they put a sticker on the cellophane to cover the image of the "used" condom.
I haven't heard this song since 1996. Thanks Bill! Brings back great high school days! :-D
We be dancin' here..... like a camel!
Sound like Steve Martin
I've see SCOTS two times live, and they are excellent. They are goofing on southern culture which if you see how they dress you would understand - keyboardist in overalls, bass player with bouffant hairdo. Great guitar work if you get a chance to see them.
This song is too funny.... Always reminds me of Sam Rockwell's character in "The Green Mile" — I guess it's the accent, and Moon Pies?
Its a good thing I've got a cool boss
ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuweeeee baby!

This is a good comparison. The only difference is I'm pretty sure they are making fun of themselves and I'm not sure the B-52's ever did that. They didn't take themselves too seriously (I don't see how they could with the kind of music they made) but Southern Culture on the Skids has a distinctly mocking tone to it.

This was playing when I tuned in tonight, and this is why I love RP.
Okay, if anyone has ever watched a camel walk, they'll notice that a camel will put both left feet down, then both right feet, instead of left-front-right-rear, right-front-left-rear. The distribution of weight enables a camel to stay on top of the sand instead of sinking into it. This also works for humans when they're walking on sand, except instead of walking heel-to-toe, if a person plants the entire foot on the sand with their weight evenly balanced, they're less likely to sink. (It's like wearing snowshoes.)
I have absolutely NO idea how this factoid applies to the song.

Too much fun. I'll have to try to see these guys live.

I have this on my MP3 player, and it was all I could do to keep from laughing out loud while I was watering plants. Glad there was no one in the nursery (and I checked, because one can never be to careful, with Big Brother watching.)
I"m still trying to understand this band, but I'm also recognizing that it's probably impossible. I love them, no matter what.

Let us walk through this barren desert, in search of truth, and some pointy boots, and maybe a few snack crackers....
Genius!
Genius!
Love it, but I am a big fan of old garage rock. Not everyone,s cup of tea.

Why did I think beyond the shadow of a doubt that this was The Butthole Surfers?
Sorry, this gets old quick and I've heard it too many times already on RP.
I always enjoy SCOTS music!
I can't stop laughing (and howling)!

I can't help it - I just LOVE this band! They really are the "other B-52's from the wrong side of the tracks." So much fun - short and sweet and shocking. By the time one of their songs is over, you catch yourself scratching your head and going, "Huh? Gotta listen to that one again, because I think I musta blacked out for a minute..."
I get a little jumpy whenever I see a bald-headed kid playing a banjo.
LITTLE DEBBIE LITTLE DEBBIE!
Greatest Band from Chapel Hill Ever.

I just tuned in ... to THIS!! AHHHOOOO!!!
Requests this song ... `cuz it makes me smile!
No "Cramps" on RP? Bill if this gets in, how about something from "A date with Elvis"?
OMGWTF!! Gonna' ask my little Debbie to wear her 'special outfit' tonight! OOOHWEEEEE!!

I have been out of town for the week and unable to listen to RP. Oh, how I have missed it and missed fun songs such as this.
Dubs this my new favorite country song! Thank you Radio Paradise.
This song makes me so happy.
i used to hate this shit when it came out. now, i've upgraded my opinion to "ambivalent."
I get the feeling that I should investigate this band much further - they seem to me to have a nice combination of great musicianship and quirky sense of humor.

Fun band to see. The drummer stands the whole time. No other band can make that claim.

It's interesting how it sounded like earlier Talking Heads (couldn't hear it real well over some loud people in shop.)
This is f*ckin' weird, but fun. True psychobilly :o)
Nice segue from the Talking Heads...
play it LOUDER
Yeehaw! My favorite SCOTS song.
Owwwwwoowww!
