Walkin' - for your love
Walkin' - for your love
Walkin' - for your love
Walkin' - for your love

I'm only going where my eyes are going
I'm only going where my toes are pointed
I just bought me this new pair of big shoes
I'm only going if I can walk there with you

Shinin' - for your love
Shinin' - for your love
Shinin' - for your love
Shinin' - for your love

I'm afraid to open my eyes
I'm even afraid to look at you
Right here - I'm gonna open my eyes
I'm gonna move with you

Disappearin' - for your love
Disappearin' - for your love
Disappearin' - for your love
Disappearin' - for your love

We're only going in this closet here
I'm only going if the doorknob turns
I'm only going if the light goes on
I'm only going if I can boogie with you

I don't know any students who jams like the bass player does at the breaks.
I haven't followed Widespread Panic. My loss.

Yeah... it's that 80's-90's production sound. Ruined so many good songs!

But there is nothing here that catches my attention. Where are the creative lyrics? Interesting melody? I see that others think the same as you, but after attending >50 Dead shows over several decades, I cannot see the similarity. Other than a lengthy duration.

There it is.

"What?!?!"

Younger son: "C'mon, Dad, you didn't know he was a head?  After all, he owns every Widepsread Panic CD ever printed."

I will refrain from any thoughts regarding condom usage and the like, but this song, which I have heard many times here, never seems to get anywhere. What is the f-ing point? There is a riff and there it is again: and again, ad infinitum (well, in truth it does end). It's not especially offensive, but neither does there seem to be any structure or point. Repeated listenings have failed to advance the case for the merits of this song. Maybe it's just me.

I think "a riff...again and again..without structure" is their point, as it seems to be with most so-called "jam bands".  It doesn't do much for me either, but plenty of folks seem to enjoy it.
Everybody in my homeless camps loves this song soooo much...

A Scott mention on RP nice.  I've been thinking about a Creek upload - what might pass LRC?

Funny you mention Scott, becaue I feel that he way overplays the guitar.  To each his own, but when I listen to Murawski play, I think that he needs a good editor.

When Houser played with WSP he had a very unique guitar approach.  The band is very different now with Herring who I actually think has a similar approach as Scott.

It's also possible that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about.
Love this tune - a happy, simple, soulful little ditty.
"I wanna  do something that really sucks... for your love."

Easy for you to say and I agree!
Thats a phuckin bassline baby. Cool
Love this song- great instruments, great soulful voice, great hook.  If you have not seen WSP in concert you must do so (although I heard they are taking some time off), they are amazing!!!

Musically, I hear Belle and Sebastian in this one. Huh, never noticed that before.
sounds like Tom Petty. This is very good.
Happy Day!
A Whole Lotta Shaking and Moving Going On w'it this song here!!
I love the beat - but the song itself is just not musically inspiring for me. Still, when I hear it, I tap my foot and do that stupid shoulder-jerk thing when you're sitting at the computer...

I hate this song.  I like this song. I won't rate it because I'm so ambivalent about it that I just can't make up my mind.
STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP ITT !

Yes, you don't really hear Steve Forbert's name much anymore.  He's still at it though; he played around here not long ago.

After Clapton's version of the blues, I'm glad they're grouped together. Sort of like a cloudy day. Ya just know its gonna improve eventually. Blow, wind, blow.

Agreed.  I missed a chance (several actually) to see them play at the flippin' National Guard Armory at Clemson U (go Tigers) for 5 bucks in the mid 80's.  Idiot.

Is this the white guys blues set? Actually not bad for white guys. Will we segue to Blind Willie Johnson? (probably RL Burnside)
I'm hearing Steve Forbert

Don't quite understand how these idiots can even think Widespread Panic sounds like the Grateful Dead. Maybe they're not really listening?
People are susceptible to empty stereotypes. They don't have to listen to judge - they see the name and make assumptions. Good times.
I'd get up and dance for sure! good sound! ilibjorn wrote:
Panic is way more than the music. They have a cult-like following (i mean cult in a good way). I went to a concert with an avid WSP fan and friend and I was diggin' it...on the floor EVERYONE was dancin' non-stop. After like an hour and a half I went up to the top of the arena thinking I could sit and take a break. Huh. EVERYbody up there was on their feet dancing their asses off! All young white kids. Unreal. they all know all the words to the songs. Best part is the parking lot. Lots of really great folk. Intermission. Pre-concert. Post-concert. Food. Drink. I think like the Dead, it becomes way more than the music.

Yes! That's what I'm talkin' about! It's Friday. Not just more cowbell. MORE WIDESPREAD PANIC!
It's funny..each time I see WP or String cheese or one of the others that fall into that category (in my mind) It is the best Live show and you really appreciate it more than for example right now hearing this is just kinda ...eh...whatever
oooh I remember when this song came out! Great to hear it here!!!
I love Widespread Panic!! So happy! So much energy!

One of my favorite WP songs. ETwilson, nice to see somebody from my hometown on these boards.

moving piece of music

It is weird for me all of WSP's songs sounded familiar to me when I first got into them, it's almost like I heard them growing up and just cant place where...and so maybe thats why I like htem so much
MsJudi wrote:

You say that like there is another kind.
Nuthin wrong with a little WP! (They have a brand new album that I am still working my way through, but it seems pretty good)
These guys are kinda growin' on me, well, a little bit, I guess.
Great set tonight!

That's redundant. And yes, it does.
Not a bad song. The local radio station is really pushing their live shows.
zzzzzzzzz.....
Tune that got me into WSP.... nice Southern Rock....nice to hear it RP.

Most live recordings don't do them any justice...you really must see them in person!

generic, tired rehash of a style that's already been done better.
:D Nothing like a little Panic on a Monday! Thanks, RP!
Little Feat would\'ve been proud to have it on their repertoire, I think. After each time RP plays it, I can\'t get it out of my head for a long time. Very nice how, after that pretty wild, swinging, very musical jamming, the singer comes in singing \'walking, for your love\' etc. in such a cool and easy way, as if nothing has happened
Just came from a 3 night Red Rocks bender with the home team. Thanks for playing Panic!
Man, does this song bring back memories of driving around western SC and NE Georgia. Back in 91, listening to WP, driving 85 North from Athens....
Very strange... I was just going through my list of music to find a good WP song to upload, then Walkin\' just came on! Very good tune. Overall, RP is doin\' a great job here. Keep it up Bill and Rebecca!
LOVE the Panic!!! :D
