Hear the drummers drumming
I want you to join together with the band
We don't move in any particular direction
And we don't make no collections
I want you to join together with the band
Do you really think I care
What you mean or what you wear
I want you to join together with the band
There's a million ways to last
And every one's a path
Come on and join together with the band
Join together, I want you to join together
Come on and join together with the band
We need you to join together, join together
Join together with the band
You don't have to play
You can follow or lead the way
I want you to join together with the band
We don't know where we're going
But the season's right for knowing
I want you to join together with the band
It's the singer not the song
That makes the music move along
I want you to join together with the band
This is the biggest band you'll find
It's as deep as it is wide
Come on and join together with the band
Join together, join together
Join together with the band
We need you to join together, join together
Join together with the band
It's probably a synth - Townshend was an early adopter.
According to Wiki, Daltry said it was a synth, & he did not approve of using it, since he is a "guitar man".
Highlow~
there's a very high note that segues into the harmonica. What instrument is that?

just a minor note though, rock on.
Not my fave of The Who. But who cares? No one, I'm sure!
"not my favorite Who song' would put it at about number 86 on the list of best 100,000 rock songs ever written, played, and recorded. so. yeah.
It starts to become a game... "Oh, here's an excellent example of classic rock (or whatever); I wonder what ridiculousness the trolls will come up with for THIS?". Someone commented Roger's voice got old before he did. I saw the Who in Hamilton 4 or 5 years back, and didn't expect much. I was blown away! Other than the sad reminder of Roger's age and vanity when he doffed his shirt and revealed his "boob lift" scars (big screens aren't always your friend) he proved he still had the pipes. The first couple songs Roger was pretty rough, but he had an industrial strength vapourizer (steam not weed!*) in front of Zak Starskeys drum kit and beteeen songs would breathr deep and lubricate and 15 minutes in he was in full form and bellowing with the power as when I saw them at the CNE in 82. Both Pete and Simon Townsend on guitars, Ringo's son Zak (as noted) on drums plus various back ups. They fucking ROCKED. Better than bands their grandkids age. Fantastic show. * re weed - before the show the big screens scrolled through various witty comments. Best was "Roger can't handle the smoke anymore and asks that you stick to brownies"!
It's the SINGER not the song, that makes the music move along!
Love it when that bass kicks in. Rock n' roll baby!
always loved when John jumped in--one of the top bassists of all time
-boom boom boom
The Who has some really amazing songs...and this is one of them!
meh
If that's a pun , it's a bad one
Hear , Hear
Yes! It really makes you appreciate what the bass adds to the sound.

BOF ... Et c'est là où les Athéniens s'éteignirent
But I still don't understand Emo Phillips...
I hereby formulate AgentOrange's law:
The band or artist most often played on Radio Paradise is that band or artist which most irritates/annoys/bothers you.
Which can also be formulated thusly:
Each listener perceives that the band they most object to is played more often than other bands, regardless of the number of actual plays of that band.
If you follow the Now Playing lists as closely as I have for the past four years, I believe you will find that Radiohead is far and away the most played artist here. When In Rainbows came out I did keep track —— there was seldom a six hour block that didn't have at least one RH, um, piece, sometimes two.
Ugh.
I would also guess that the next most plays go to Pink Floyd, Dylan, Talking Heads/David Byrne, The Beatles/Lennon, and Porcupine Tree, although maybe not in that order.
While I'm here, I think this tune is one from a long list of The Who's classics.
But I still don't understand Emo Phillips...
Bill does not exist. He is a computer generated DJ somewhat like the Wizard in the Wizard of OZ.....you can't speak with him....he communicates only by computer. Our human emotions that come out in these forums do not affect him in any way.Bill....are you reading this?? come out from behind that curtain...The picture on their website is really Donald Sutherland.
Very good comment! For me, Bill ( or his computer DJ ) is playing nice music, thats important! Have a nice day, Bill (computer DJ) , Donald ?! Eh, or whatever?!
Thank you, Bill!
Ooops. Busted.

Ohhh - a personal appearance. Mr. Sutherland, I love your acting. (And your music is pretty awesome, too.) I love living here...

Prolly their last Tommyesque song.
(They were sadly old during Super Bowl appearance. Better off playing McCormick's Seniors Home.)
Ha ha... did you make that up yourself? You should go into comedy.

Bill looks nothing like Sutherland.
Bill does not exist. He is a computer generated DJ somewhat like the Wizard in the Wizard of OZ ...
Actually, Bill is , in fact, the only remaining DJ who *isn't* computer generated. At least his playlists aren't.
Tom Petty even wrote a song about him.
I agree.
The Who were a rock band but not a traditional one.
Going off on a tangent was part of their attraction for me.
It didn't always work but I think it does here.
I agree with your first part, but I have a different conclusion... :(
I never noticed the piccolo before

Agreed!
The Who has some really great songs.
This is neither.

No actually The Beatles seem to be played the most and Bill told me in an email he totally agrees with what I have written about The Beatles greatness and he told me they are often in the top played list on here!
