good grief bunch of whingers here… I really enjoy this version. And I do like Panic in gerneral as well.
Guitar is boring compared to Cale. Drumming seems a bit over the top for what should be a pretty laid back sound.
Not bad as covers go. The original crushes it like a grape of course.

I think for me it's the marching-band-cadence of the snare drum in this cover. JJ Cale had a laid-back, shuffle rhythm to a lot of his songs that made them so relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. This version is a bit more regimented and rushed sounding.

The beauty of JJ is the understated element - he does it better than anyone, with the possible exception of Mark Knopfler. Other versions are - exactly that: other versions. They bring the flavour of the band doing it. To me the original JJ versions are the definitive. His live takes are different and not so understated. Different stokes for different folks/audiences. I have been playing this CD while in the shower each morning for the last week turned up to 11... It is sooo RAD!
My second ex was huge into Panic, but for some reason, you could never find this CD anywhere (even though we lived in GA at the time). I went out to Utah for a long business trip..and low and behold...I found like a dozen copies in a music store...so I called her and asked if she still wanted it...LOL...She wanted me to buy every single one of them!!

Not so long ago, a wonderful radio station in our town played this song by JJ Cale and Eric Clapton. I'd never heard it before, but that was the version I loved most.
