I see your shadow on the street now
I hear you push through the rusty gate
Click of your heels on the concrete
Waiting for a knock, coming way too late
It seems an age since I've seen ya
Count down as the weeks trickle into days

So you come in and put your bags down
I know there's something in the air
How can I do this to you right now?
You're over there when I need you here...

My happiness
Slowly creeping back now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
It must be when you pack up and go

It seems an age since I've seen ya
Count down as the weeks trickle into days
I hope that time hasn't changed ya
All I really want is for you to stay

So you come in and put your bags down
I notice something in the air
How can I do this to you right now?
You're over there when I need you here...

My happiness
Slowly creeping back now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
Must be when you pack up and go

I know, I know, I know, what is inside
I know, I know, I know, what is inside
I know, I know, I know, what is inside
I know, I know, I know, what is inside

You're over there when I need you here...

My happiness
Slowly creeping back now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
Must be when you pack up and go

My happiness
Slowly creeping back now you're at home
If it ever starts sinking in
Must be when you pack up and go

i bet i haven't heard this in 20 yrs. thank you!! forgot all about it. love this!
So love this song. Have not heard it in years. This WHOLE album is just great pop music. I highly recommend.
A good form of ear worm.
Superb {#Daisy}
Nice song!

Sounds very much like "Live" on "Throwing Copper".
Sounds a bit like Jars of Clay
Great track, with shades of Roy Wood vocals (to my ears) ....
One must love bands from Australia. This is my favourite song from them.

Bill what about playing that song next that begins with the line "look out mama there's a white boat coming up the river".

I can't remember the title but I bet you know the song I am referring to.

It is.
Bill it is awesome hearing the Finger outside of OZ.  Always brilliant.  Makes me want to head to the beach.
Like this tune a lot.
Not least because they do bear some resemblance to the style of The Shins and Neil Finn.

Great to hear Powerfinger on RP.
Thanks Bill. Nice to hear you sharing this great Aussie band with the RP masses.
The beginning reminded me somehow of the "Flight of the Conchords"....
Cool guitar sound in this one.
The Finger on RP.  AWESOME.  Don't know why they never did much in the states, awesome in OZ.  Thanks Bill.  Its is cranked.
i love this. haven't heard it in ages.

Nice. It's been too long since I heard The Finger. And never before on RP. Thanks for changing it up a bit!

Bill thank you for taking a New York who lived in Oz with his family for 10 years back to the Central Coast of NSW.  Butch
And my RP musical education continues. Never heard it before.  This song grows on a fellow. Thanks, Bill. This is rather smokin'. Sing it along and play it again.
Wicked.  There is something immense about the vibe when I see bands from me homeland in a room full of ex-pats in London in winter.  These guys and the Waifs to name but a few raised the absolute roof off the joint with this and a few other numbers.  Normally I don't like loads of crowd singing but when its right its right.... or maybe I was so loud I was ruining someone else's enjoyment.  Whoops.

This song is not a cover, but the band is apparently named after Neil's tune.

Yes, great pity for we fans, but they put out a double best of CD with some unreleased stuff. I picked it up and it is played frequently when I drive to Sydney.  A great band.

Powderfinger’s Golden Rule Posted by Eddie Ruckus - Rockin' Blogger 11 September, 2009 - 10:35 AM

Powderfinger

Powderfinger have just revealed the release details for their new studio album.

It’s called Golden Rule and it will be out November 13.

The first single is a track called “All Of The Dreamers” and you’ll be able to hear right here exactly two weeks from today. <Obviously we’ll try and steal a copy to let you hear before that!>

“On this record we made our approach from a different angle,” says Bernard Fanning.

“We made an effort to steer away from the ‘habits’, whether good or bad, that we had developed when writing together over the years. It gave the songs an entirely new energy that we have never really tapped into before.

“‘All of the Dreamers’ is the most consistently upbeat song that we have written in our entire career. It’s a sideways glance at the sometimes redundant nature of party politics.

“It’s not a particularly political song actually, in the sense that it is taking a side, just a general dissatisfaction with the way ‘democracy’ can be blindsided by the self interest that holding onto power can generate.

“I suppose in that sense it alludes to any kind of relationship, whether it be political, business or personal.”

No worries, Bern – as long as we can sing along!

Bad body odor music. done that.
If my regular rotation, but haven't heard here in AGES!
Fantastic groove. Jars of Clay meets Buck Cherry meets Meil Young.

what do you tell a police officer who doesn't arrive at the scene of a crime on time?

...........COP-U -LATE{#Stupid}{#Dance}......................GOOD TUNE!!

Love the finger!
Sweet. Sad but sweet.

years later and I still think this is some band I've heard once or twice is all. I do think I'll give it a 7 now. Really when the song started just now, if you had asked me how old it was, I'd have said it came out in 2006 maybe. I don't know what that means but maybe it just isn't making any impression on me other than I sort of like it. /incisive analysis

I give this a 4, because I'm not an Aussie. Ok, a 5 because I am an Aussie sympathizer.
For a moment there, I thought it was Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Not a bad thing to be comparable to, BTW.

I'm always impressed to hear such good Aussie bands on RP. Powderfinger have been one of my favourite bands for about 10 years. Vulture Street is a truly great album. Another one to look out for is 'Internationalist'.
... Definately, and now Bernard Fanning has just released his solo album Tea and Sympathy which is really really good. Still, I can't get enough of Powderfinger, even though I've got all their albums, they are just such a tight band of professionals... ... My Happiness! ...
I love this song. I added the CD to my Wish List on Amazon when I noticed that My Happiness isn't on the album shown. It's on Odyssey Number Five.
I love this song, can't understand the negatives. BUT, it's probably because of nostalgia to my days back in '02 travellin' from Melbin to Cairns, with a 4 month stop in Bundaberg to pick zuchinni in a large field (ok, aussies, corgete (sp?)).

As an aussie, this song died for me while living in a ski town in the US. Ski towns in the US are filled with aussies and if had a penny for every time I was forced to listen to this crap by sad sentimental girls who'd left thier boys down under........ arrrggg. This song is considered their "sellout" song in australia and I was surprised to hear it on Radio paradise, but this station is always good for a surprise .
That's interesting. I've lived in a ski town for five years and have yet to meet an aussie. Maybe it's a western ski town thing. I'm in lake placid, it's all eastern european (not a bad thing, just interesting is all) oh, and yeah, this song sucks.
Surprized to hear this one here. I'm over it, it gets flogged on the radio
Surprised to hear this on here :) Great Australian band!

This song reminds me of my little girls (4 & 2) running to me after I have been away on business... and how they are so excited to see me when I return home.. That time between road trips is magical and we are living life burning the candle at both ends trying to get as much time And how they react when I have to leave again... Love the song.. totally reminds me of my girls everytime I think of it...
have a nice day....enjoy this easy song...
Good sound and song. A bit like Live doing a Crowded House song.

Ouch.
first time this morning I have come to rate a song badly...
Still love this song! Just a good groove. :D

Me too.
The only thing that bugs me is the cymbals seem to be mixed too loud. Otherwise, cool.

Wow... this album came out while I was living in Australia, and we would always listen to it while working late in the lab. Everytime I hear Powderfinger, it takes me back... what a great album. :sunny.gif:
Cripes, this song is brutal. Does it end any time soon?
I find that I like this song a bit more each time I hear it...
Always like hearing this song. pbm 8^)
MAKE IT STOP!
I like these guys too, but must say the quality of songs and albums vary quite a lot. As i've understood it they're releasing a new album this year, will check it out! BTW, the best song by powderfinger in my opinion is "passenger", Bill do you have it? =)
Nice!
Wow...nice. Will check this band out. :D

I was looking for some Neil Young sounds with a name like Powderfinger... Sure enough, lead guitar, right channel, very Neil... -edit- It seems to be the left channel today... perhaps my speakers at work are reversed... -edit- Good Stuff!!! Q
I give it a 7 (which is, you know, a pretty good rating). Digging that late-70s groove sound, no matter how commonly it may be used by others these days (which should, I think, matter a hell of a lot less than what one does with it). :D
One of the best Aussie bands for ages. You should also check out Alex Lloyd - he\'s tops too!!!
Loved this song first time I heard it back in the fall and like it more every time I hear it. Bought the album after hearing this single here on Radio Paradise. Who\'s says that internet radio isn\'t helping to promote new groups?
Used to listen to these guys on MMM. I have two of their CDs and love them both. It\'s nice to hear them on the radio again. I\'ve been missing them since most of the Aussie stations stopped webcasting.
I like the flanging guitar sounds. There\'s way too little different guitar sounds nowadays, usually people just play the same way.
its a durn good thing that it didnt remind me of Crowded House at all - otherwise I would have never bought this excellent album. :p
I heard this song and it reminded me so much of my beloved Crowded House that I had to have the CD! I love it, I love it, I love it! :D
great band! i like everything i\'ve heard so far. :D :D

Thanks for playing Powderfinger. These guys are huge in Australia but they get no airplay here in the states. Another Aussie band that you may want to check out is the Whitlams... https://www.thewhitlams.com/ They are also huge in Oz but mostly unknown here.
