I'm undaunted,
Yes, and I'm a wanted man;
I got rhymes so sleek and smooth
It's like I'm haunted
And possesed by the news
Of the hip and the hop.
Pay my dues
'Til I reach the top
Of the heap
And then the crown is mine to keep.
I burn the midnight oil while they're all asleep,
I bring home the jams without skipping a beat.
Keep the party going, get you off of your feet.
Break!
Well, in disbelief you stare in wonder
Circular time has gone asunder
You surrender to the bass line thunder
‘Cause I'm groovin it, all without a blunder
No drugs, no drinking
But you're in a trance,
No doubt start thinkin'
And you start to dance
And you can't resist.
So I persist and you enlist,
And it goes like this:
Sing!

Chorus
I must be doing something right!
Just keep it moving,'cause I'm dancing in the light.
I must be doing something right, right, right,
Out of the darkness '€˜cause I'm dancing in the light!

Now don't you touch that dial
'Cause you know you'd walk a mile
For rhymes in style
Brought to you by this smile.
I'm a man for all seasons;
If your chillin', I'm freezin'.
That's the reason
I'm always seekin'
About the moment
My mind is constantly roamin',
Searchin', seekin',
Like a missile I'm hoamin'
With a word I can dazzle
With a minimum hassle
From the top of my castle,
So fast
Break!
Now your pickin' up the broadcast
And at long last
Cut to the riff-raff,
Right to the Chief of Staff,
El Presidente, o'solomente,
Because the jams
Make you feel,
Explore the realms of the rythym,
Hands are on the wheel.
I'm tough and I'm driven
Like a Maserati or somethin'.
Like a Ninja, got to wind
Your body rhymes,
So hot, they're gonna singe you!

€”Chorus

Faster than a runaway train,
Quicker than a speeding bullet,
Burnin' hot like a flame,
Don't even try to cool it
Electric third rail packin' a thunder-like voltage
Better tuck your tail and run back underground
'€˜Cause that's where you'll end up
If it's me you try to set up
'€˜Cause I'm rock rollin' hard
And I'm a rippin' it up like a rattlesnake
I'm shakin' and you can't get enough
Quick like the viper
Bring them down like a sniper
To your microphone shakin' it
This party's an all-nighter
If you think your Superman, then I'm the Kryptonite;
If you think your Lancelot, then I'm the black night.
(I'm sayin' that)
If you think your Superman, then I'm the Kryptonite;
If you think your Lancelot, then I'm the black night.
Sing!

€”Chorus (2x)

Tom Major, a hometown hero on Martha's Vineyard! The late 90s on the island were smoking hot. Carly Simon still owned the Hot Tin Roof and all the best acts came to town. I was a massage therapist working there in the summers, we'd ride our bikes to the shows and then party on the beach after until sunrise and then go crash. Ahhh to be young & full of energy!

A guy I recently worked with was a local fan at The Vineyard during that time and told me it was wild.

I'm one of them, and I'm not a cretin, unlike the cretins who post these fucking gifs.

To Bill and Rebecca . . I might be wrong, but I think the record is Entrain's 2002 "Live: Vol 1 Rise Up." The 2001 "All One" record does not appear to have a live recording of "Dancin' in the Light." If anyone disagrees or has more accurate information . .
amazing!

Google couldn't figure out what song this was.  What a jam!

Had to scroll down to see what the word was, Wow, clearly geography matters. I wouldn't be keeping my job if I used this at work.
Love this; thought it was Joe Jackson.
Is this Scatman John?
Something in this song reminds me of Adriano Celentano with his masterpiece Prisencolinensinainciusol.

Okay, since we're doing THIS....

Love hearing Martha's Vineyard Entrain here on Radio Paradise! . So many awesome memories dancing to this.
And this is LIVE. Ho-lee.
Can this guy sing patter or what!?  He is the very model of a modern Major-General!!

I thought I was hearing The Bonedaddys.
Boogie down!  Tom Major is one kick a*s drummer IMHO.
Nice 👍
These guys played my high school back in 1998 in the pre-prom "don't do drugs" concert.  They rocked.

Yeah!

Sounds like Rusted Root (some of us call them Busted Boot)  - not my thing.

I understand that in the UK, this is a VERY derogatory word.  In North America:  not so much?  We read it as the medical term, rather than an insult.
Outstanding piece  (awesome smackpipe  : )

The studio version is on their 1994 album Can U Get It. Although the title tag here says "(live)," the version here sounds an awfully lot like the studio version. And, yes, there is a live version on Rise Up: Vol. 1, which is not the version here. Regardless, it's a great tune, and either one of the versions on their website is sure to please.

this a a live version that was available for download from their website. I don't know if it's still there but it was not an official release on CD.

I don't think this is actually on the 'All One' CD, however. The RP link to purchase the song takes you to the correct album but this song is not in the track list. Nor can I find this song on the track listing for that album anywhere, including Entrain's own website. There is a live version of the song on "Rise Up: Live, Vol 1" but I don't think it is the exact same one even though it is very similar. Anybody know the deal on this?

Haven't heard this in years after a regular rotation on RP.
The trombone and drums are incredible. I want to dance behind them in the parade.

Cynaera was rarely wrong ... this song is really, really good.  It may be great, but I'll need to hear it a few more times.  Guitar is slashin' and burnin', drums are thumpin', singer's yelling scat, and ... do I hear a tromBONE?  WOO HOO!

You are so right on that.  I've seen them a few times and they are as much "alive" as they sound in this song.  Great beach/outdoor concert band.  I've seen them at a ski resort and in a few beach bars on Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket over the years

Studio version is on the Can U Get It CD. It is also on the Live cd you mentioned.

This version is not on any CD. Entrain used to have it as a free download on their site, but it's no longer available there.

Oddly the lead singer of Entrain reminds me of Ted Nugent - like his singing on "Great White Buffalo."

Agree! Here you go: https://www.entrain.com/tour_dates.asp

On my iPod this set is followed by Kirsty MacColl's "In These Shoes?"

Entrain - Dancin' in the Light (live)
Mavericks - Dance the Night Away
Nik Kershaw - Wounded

Not inclined to disagree but feel for ya. Hope someone posts a solution to your conundrum—I'd like to know, too.

This seems like it would be incredibly fun to see performed live.

Somehow I thought this was David Lindley until just now...and I bought this song after hearing it here.
No fair. It's too early for this playlist. It's only 2:45 on the east coast, I have tons more work to get done, but this music is distracting my fingers and my feets...
{#Bananasplit}
You know, I've been on the N train and it sounds nothing like this.
Probably great live. Hurts my ears listening via RP.
A great song to up your energy level. Toe-tappin' even.

If they're really from Martha's Vineyard, they're the PHISH of the island.  Not bad at all...

So okay, it's a good idea, instead of the constant rotation playlist, embed and run too the songs that have long been on the shelf. And play the greatest possible number of songs recorded in a register of live performances. It is attractive and exciting in any radio station, i think.

It's a good song, but would be greatly improved by chopping about 2 minutes off of it.

I loves these guys, a Martha's Vineyard band led by a crazy drummer. I haven't been impressed by their latest incarnation, but their live shows 10 years ago were excellent.
