I met God
On the edge of town
Where the wind meets the stillness
Where the darkness meets the light
Where the ocean meets the sky
Where the desert meets the rain
Where the earth meets the heavens
On the edge of town
I met God
I asked God
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time, send me to Seattle
Let me go find [[Nirvana|Kurt Cobain]]
Take away his gun, take away his bullets
Talk to him, make him want to live
Tell him how we love him, help him see his glory
God said no
If I sent you back
If you really found him
You would only ask him
If he could help you get a deal
If he knows a lawyer, if he can help you
God said no
I asked god
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time, send me to Berlin
Let me find the one they call Hitler
I will stalk him, I will bring him down
I will bring along a powerful gun
Loaded with bullets
Obliterate his memory
God said no
If I sent you back
You would get caught up in theory and discussion
You would let your fears delay and distract you
You would make friends
You would take a lover
God said no
I asked god
Do one thing for me
Send me back in time, send me to Jerusalem
Let me go, let me go find Jesus
Let me save his life as they try to kill him
Let me take him down, down from the cross
Take the iron from his body
Try to heal his wounds
God said no
If I let you go
If you really found him
Walking with the cross
You would stare
Your tounge no longer working
Eyes no longer seeing
Ears no longer hearing
God said time
Time belongs to me
Time's my secret weapon, the final advantage
God turned away from the edge of town
I knew I was beaten
And that now was all I had
God said no
On the edge of town
Where the wind meets the stillness
Where the darkness meets the light
Where the ocean meets the sky
Where the desert meets the rain
Where the earth meets the heavens
On the edge of town

Mostly, I wonder what it is about this tune that has so many people up tight.
worst song ever

Turkey for me - Turkey for you
Gonna have a Turkey in a big brown shoe
Doesnt work for me... there is alot more out there that Bill could be playing than this
I'd rather hear Sandler.
I asked Kurt, Hitler, and God, they all hate this song.

My thoughts exactly. Lyrics with a strong message that even an atheist can dig.

I thought the same as the detractors at first. That the lyrics are a bit lame.
Then I really started to listen to the words on the next play.
Order of magnitude is is spot on.
I love beautiful voices as well, but Dan Berg's music just sucks you in.
Please play again Bill.
Not sure myself on the first play. Gave it a six to start with.
Is it just me , or is that PeeWee on the album?
May be him singing for that matter.
8.
I'll pass. Sounds like my kid when he's in the bathtub and he thinks no one can hear him.
interesting message, I guess, but the lyrics seem like just free association - after about a dozen Margaritas. . . .

I was pretty much going to type this, but saw you did already.
yuck
Pass the guiniss i can feel myself getting soba
whiney. maudlin. dull. did I say whiney?
First song from RP that I really dislike enough for a 1 rating.
I asked God to stop this song.
He said no.
this guy is going to save kurt cobain and hunt down hitler?? sweet.
whoa: jesus too?
Go Say No (to this song)
This guy should have never picked up a musical instrument in his life...
is this a joke?
The lyrics might be fine, but the whiny voice just, well, awful.
"God said Time
Time belongs to me
Time's my secret weapon
My final advantage..."
that is one of the most powerful things i've heard in a long long time.

Easily the worst song I have ever heard on RP! Can it!

Bleck! Can\'t sing, can\'t write, can\'t think.
Stupid simpleminded theme mumbled to a non-tune.
Other than that, I loved it...
DUMP IT, PLEASE!

Wow, this song gives you a lot to think about. I would like to hear more from this man, though I am sure his other stuff is probably not this compelling, or perhaps I am wrong.
Bill, how about more exposure for this guy? I was impressed by this song, and I know he\'s got quite a catalouge.

I think the progression is interesting. Each request he makes is an order of magnitude larger than the previous. Saving Kurt Cobain looks trivial compared to stopping Hitler. But even stopping Hitler looks trivial compared to saving Jesus, in some sense.
aaargh!! make it stop
Good lyrics, but Dan needs some voice lessons to learn how to sing through his mouth and not his nose.
Ho Hum........
Maybe if this guy could learn how to sing it might be a pretty good song.
I\'m with johnny, the kurt cobain thing makes me laugh and cringe at the same time.
Well one person's view of why some things are beyond are control ;) . I agree it draws you in. Good for once in a while but wouldn't want to hear it everyday.

that aside, this artist reminds me of Mark Curry. If you haven\'t heard his \'sorry about the weather\', you are missing out.....
Great song again! We need some more Dan bern!! There are some things beyong our control and this song explains why in a very nice way.
You really need to prepare yourself to listen to Dan Bern. He delves deeply into some very serious subjects. See if you can find \'Kids Song\'. Very heavy...but he hits the nail right on the head.
Prepare yourself...
Also try \'Cure For Aids\'.
Wow... what a beautiful song. So deeply true...
Thank you Dan, and thank you Bill for bringing this to us.
Wow, almost made me cry, incredible.
