The street bears no relief
When everybody's fighting
The street bears no release
With lights so hot and biting
I run the stairs away
And walk into the nighttime
The sadness flows like water
And washes down the heartache
And washes down the heartache
My heart is full
My heart is mild
The saddest songs are played
On the strings of my heart
The heat is on its own
The roof seems so inviting
A vantage point is gained
To watch the children fighting
So lead me to the harbour
And float me on the waves
Sink me in the ocean
To sleep in a sailor's grave
To sleep in a sailor's grave
My heart is full
My heart is mild
The saddest songs are played
On the strings of my heart
My heart is full
My heart is mild, so mild
The saddest songs are played
On the strings of my heart
When everybody's fighting
The street bears no release

And washes down the heartache

I can't beleive I'd not noticed this track until a couple of weeks ago on RP - not my favourite singer HOWEVER this is a great track and her voice is perfect here - gets better every time - a sure-fire 10 -
I think the line is
"My heart is wide", not
"My heart is mild"
"My heart is wide", not
"My heart is mild"
Beautiful song even if many don't get it.

Why would Sinead lower herself to this?

If only that made sense.

He gets a ten from me always. Especially with HER.
To echo someone else earlier: slinky and seductive.

I don't really like Moby and I don't really like Sinead but I do like this track. I so hate it when my brain make a decision if it like something without referring to my mental 'Bigot List' which clearly states which artist I have pre-decided I'm not going to like music from!

The lyrics are sad. Also a bit insipid. Nice cocktail Moby.
Brilliant combo.
Works so seductively well.
Thanks.
Which one is on the cover?

There's even an internet radio station called "Drone Zone". Well, that's saying something 'bout a lot of people's taste in music. Modern times?
Gotta add, though, that this song by Moby is one I kinda like, for a great part because of Sinead's contribution.

RP comments: hate hate angst hate angst hate
RP ratings: Solid 6s and 7s
I'm not convinced either of them will look back on this as a career highlight

Surprised to see the relatively low rating here. I love this song, maybe just too mellow for folks?

I confess, I did look to see which one had the stubble beard.
Really digging it! And through the years I've grown to love Sinead! This song really flows with the last two... thanks RP! No surprise there... Sometimes my mood sets my mood... others music puts me in a mood... prefer those times! Thanks for an enjoyable evening...

Wouldn't have hurt if they also dropped the back 3 minutes or so of the song and sped the remainder up by about 30%.
This would have been better if they had dropped that extra track in the background repeating everything.

Desperately repetitive sections, but I find it enjoyable after that big key change (would you call it the chorus?), when I can hear what I recognise as Moby. Then it drops off my radar again.
Strange combo? Yes, but it works well, imo.

Sinead is great here???
Ohh NO!
She sounds horrid. Warbling, Off key.
This was unpleasant for the ears
True enough. Moby and O'Connor are great artists, but on this song the whole is considerably less than the sum of its parts, and does neither of them any favours. I honestly can't see O'Connor's impassioned angst-ridden Celticness mixing with Moby's laid-back electro-trance - oil and water, musically.

My old PC makes this song sound like it just goes on forever and drones on.
How can two extremely talented people produce such shite?
Are they not deeply ashamed?
But they're certainly earnest about it all, aren't they?
I like this very much. Very melancholy in a soothing way. Or maybe the other way around.

Love Moby, but this isn't one of his best.

Are they the first bald male/female duo in the history of music? Just wondering. :p
outstanding...
Could you find a more boring duo?
Does this song ever end? :(
Dreadful
Awful
Hideous
I like this. It reminds me of some of the Kid A stuff. I love Sinead, but the song isn't really Sinead-y, if you know what I mean. I still like it, though. Everyone seems to have a strong opinion on this song...except for me!

I look forward to hearing this track (and possibly some other Sinead songs?) again.
Although each person may be talented enough, this cut is really wearing on me...it sounds like what happens when your cerebral cortex is only semi-funcitonal......
I like it.
I hate when people think that because you don\'t \"like\" a song that means you don\'t \"Get it\" or you don\'t \"Understand it\". I say \"no it just means I DON\'T LIKE IT!\" :p
Anyone know which way the hearse went? :p
Ho Hum sums it up. And I even like both artists (well, only early Sinead). Just Ho Hum.

i can\'t believe sinead could start a controversy on radio paradise!

There used to be a DroneZone - thanks, RIAA. On the subject, though, this song is tolerable if you're in the right space.Originally Posted by roguewarer:

I still like whoever likes this song tho...
:p
The tone of her voice is perfect for a song like this I think. Vulnerable but strong at the same time.
Banal? mmm, I suppose you can listen to it like that, but I'd rather call it simple and effective.
Besides that, I'm already glad I kinda like a song by Moby, which doesn't happen that often. Maybe I should be aware not to over react in such a case ;-)Painful, simply painful to listen to. I\'m sorry if I don\'t see the enjoyment value in this one. Doesn\'t even sound like a song.
wow one good song after another... :)

So is that Fripp\'s guitar work being sampled?
Marginally better than root canal.
For a minute there, I thought this might be another track from Alanis\' new CD.
