Voices cry out, shells of houses
White-faced children, hungry eyes
The cruel sea calls the unwilling traveller
Who would look for the road to survival

Hold my hand a little longer
Take one last look out over the fields
To the reds and the browns of Diamond Mountain
Bring the smell and the sound to your station

I will be here when you need me
I will be here in the pouring rain
I will be here on Diamond Mountain

They bring their song line to Australia
Scattering magical airs, cities, towns
The dreaming road to Diamond Mountain
An ordinary wonder on the heather ground

Hold my hand a little longer
Take one last look out over the fields
To the reds and the browns of Diamond Mountain
Bring the smell and the sound to your station

He kisses his love, Diamond Mountain
The mad wind whistles, bushes, stones
Like two March swallows back on the mountain
Come full circle at last, heaven is home

the best radio on internet, thanks for the excellent music, from Guatemala.
I’ve always really liked this guy. Just hitting an acoustic hard and a big Irish storytelling voice really does it for me. And he’s great live, intimate and powerful

What he said. But some time ago I bumped it to an 8.  Some people may need to appreciate a heartfelt song when they hear one.  A 5 something is not in keeping with these tough times.

Christy Moore's brother actually.  But I expect that you knew that.
Not his best and I do like Luka Bloom. I gave it a 6.
Ah, I knew I remembered that voice. Many, many years ago, I borrowed a CD from my local library that I almost wore out! It was a Windham Hill Christmas Sampler called "A Celtic Season", and Luka Bloom's "Ciara" was one of the best tracks.

Plenty of live versions on YouTube, but the version from that album was this one: Luka Bloom - Ciara

I think you are right and that your reasoning may be applied to a lot of artists played by RP, some ratings are culturally biased.

Well I like it!  His voice and delivery reminds me of 'Show of Hands'.  One worth looking up Bill.

A tad less less gloomy and with a bit more vocal variety than Steve Knightley who I like but do find that a little goes a long way! I'd have to see if I can manage an album of his - with Show Of Hands they pall a bit with the later stuff.

why do I feel like Sinead O'Connor should be singing this?
orlando's brother
Eurodrama.

This is evocative. He cares what he's singing about.  It deserves better than the rating. I'm going with a 6.

Not what I said.  Y'all rate it too low.  I'm pumping it to an 8. He's an artist singer songwriter.  He's got a voice, lyrics, and one guitar.  Period.  And he travels an evocative road of feeling.  You PSDers try doing that.
I gave my love a cherry, that had no stone....
I can't believe that this song was written and sung by Luka Bloom.

Listen to his album "Tribe" instead.
It's beautiful and one of my all-time favourite albums!

I've also seen him twice on solo tour – he played in a little church packed with people and everybody was deeply awed by the intricate music.
Ouch, that's one low score. The guy does have a great voice, though.
While I don't find this offensive, there's just not much "there" there.

Well, if you substitute the words "our Crack House" for "Diamond Mountain", it changes your perspective a bit.

grim
Sounds like a beginning guitarist proudly performing his first own song. Keep at it, you'll eventually get there!
Aux lieux critiquer! fait mieux que lui!
This is evocative. He cares what he's singing about.  It deserves better than the rating. I'm bumping 6 to 8.
This isn't really all that good.
I really enjoyed his work on Luka Bloom.  Better than this, IMO.
Definitely brought some entertaining comments!  Maybe it's because I was actually busy at my desk doing something that I kind of liked the song.  Keep it coming.  That's why we listen!
Sounds SO contrived......so much for real passion.  Have to return again to plead that Bill doesn't play this again....PLEASE!

damn ... 4.6? ... it really isn't that bad

PSD button for sure
Had I only known Bill was going to play this, I would have remonstrated with him as I passed by Paradise 3 days ago.

doesn't he go on........a solid 1
This would be a great song if it weren't for the wavery voice thing he's got going. That part just makes my teeth rattle.
This song is kinda sappy, not very unique — but it's also under rated. He's sincere, observant, and he feels what he's singing about.
damn ... 4.6? ... it really isn't that bad
ok its official...u have made Friday feel like a depressing Monday
i've always like this guy. his solo acoustic shows are not to be missed.
Great to hear Luka on here. I like this song a lot but his first "proper" album (as Luka, not Barry Moore) "Riverside" is his best imo.
It ain't THAT bad...certainly better than 4.7...
At first i thought this was a god-awful cover of Elton John's "Sacrifice." But no...it is much much worse than that.
I won't be heeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre to listen to this again
Cold cold heart Hard done by you Some things look better baby Just passing through And its no sacrifice Just a simple word Its two hearts living In two separate worlds But its no sacrifice No sacrifice Its no sacrifice at all Oops, sorry, wrong song.

Just gave this a '10'. Thanks for the encouragement, guys!
Ditto Skhooly, below.
Gave this a 1 rating but the average is still way too high at 4.9. So come on all you discerning listeners - give this guy as many Ya Boo Sucks as this drivel deserves.
He is a bit too whiny to be appealing. The tragedy comes across too thick. I envision the first front-rows at his concerts filled with women who are glued to every of his "emotions". You get the idea.
If this is your thing, I would recommend "North and South of the River" by Christy Moore.

does anyone else hear an Elton John song here? without the nice voice though.
No, but I see John Belushi grabbing the guitar and smashing it.

Here! Here! Didn't I just hear him yesterday?? Waaaaaaayyyyyy too sappy.

Elton John rip-off, I am afraid...
Are you kidding? I can't believe Elton John and Luka Bloom were even compared -- that's like comparing Celine Dion with Joan Baez...that's worse than apples and oranges, mates...

Ba-a-ah baaa-aaa-a-aa-aahh
I like Luka Bloom, the voice with the lilt, the great guitar. Very listenable artist. :)

Hail, fellow Tucsonan! The chord progression is very similar to "Sacrifice" (which Sinead covered with her own brand of vibrato). Perhaps that's what you hear? I know I do. :)
I think this song has a bit of skipping at the start - but it could just be me! Love this song though, and yes it has echoes of Elton John!
Very enjoyable!

This guy\'s vibrato bugs me. The guitar is really nice however.
Been hearing lotsa Luka Bloom lately... and that\'s a GOOD thing. I find his songs pierce my heart and bring me to the edge of tears... yet I like to be moved. Wonderful radio Bill!

Nice lyric and vocalist as well. Not all that many male rock/pop/folk vocalists use the lower part of their range, his is nice and rich. Makes me want to cop a hug from a bass baritone.
