The maid came to her room Wednesday morning
Found a pistol lying by her side
For thirteen years she kept her fires burning
Lost in pictures, no place left to hide
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo
Alone too long, the night became her lover
She knew that he'd been waiting all this time
With dreams and magic pictures to uncover
Now that all that earthly sadness was behind
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo
People go to galleries in Europe
To wonder and to feel Picasso's soul
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo
Jaqueline's gone to Pablo

Really nice mic setup on the guitar. Love it. Lots of bottom end and steel string resonance and a fat midrange.

Not so fast, my friend. This sounds like an excellent drinking song. "Woman wakes up with a pistol and heads out for Pablo."
Pass the Jameson's.
Luka Bloom. Huzzah! The Irish have so much more to offer the world than drinking songs now don't they? Great stuff.

It's nice to listen to FM radio.
A strong similarity vocally and instrumentally to early Spirit of the West.
The whole "Riverside" album, where this is originally from, is excellent.
My favourite is "An Irishman in Chinatown", although it's not necessarily typical for the album.
Ah, go on!

Now that you mention it ... so true!
And why did you have to mention that, by the way? ($&^**&^%!!!!)
I almost hate to say this because I do like this song, but if you tilt your head just right you can almost hear that awful song "Wildfire" (by Michael something, I think) lurking within.
"She comes down yellow mountain..."
"She ran calling Wildfire..."

NIce to hear Barry here on RP.
For those that don't know, Luke Bloom is actually Christy Moore's younger brother Barry Moore.

Actually, the best Pablo museums can be found in Barcelona or Paris - even the MOMA collection in New York. Why is this album called Amsterdam? Otherwise, OK music.
Barry used to live in Groningen for a while, and knows the Netherlands quite well. I'm sure that's what the album title comes from.Yay, Luka. Now his version of LL Cool J's "I Need Love", please.

Paul Kelly (Australia's "Bob Dylan")
I wouldn't go that far but he is good though.
I don't know... Luka's a bit too earnest. Listening to his music, I sometimes feel he's hectoring, rather than just singing. Maybe that's the attraction.
"My name is Luka. I live on ..."
No wait!
Powerful acoustic song that comes from his guts and his blood.

Heehee. I hear that too. I remember that song - so sad, so sad. At least it was when I was in junior high.
"And the pony she named 'wildfire'
busted down his stall.
In the blizzard he was lost."

It has been a long time since I\'ve heard any Luka Bloom. Now all of a sudden I\'m hearing a couple of songs on radio paradise. Thanks for reminding me just how good he is!

If I'm not mistaken, you're tragically incorrect and this song is about the suicide of Pablo Picasso's wife (years) after his death.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacqueline Roque :
"Jacqueline Picasso killed herself by gunshot in 1986 when she was 59 years old."
