Trouble
Don't you see
That in your bed
I find no sleep
I confess you came because of me
Trouble get behind me now
Trouble let me be

Cold wet stone
Deep river bed
Once so clean and clear now runs red
You know too well
Was me that called you here
Trouble get behind me now
Trouble let me be

Oh sweet day
Leave me behind
I will never call on you
Until the day I die
Pray your mercy shine on me
Pray your mercy shine

Here I stand
Head bowed for thee
My empty heart begs you
Leave me be
But I confess
You know too well
That I have fallen
Pray your mercy give to me
Pray your mercy shine
Trouble
Trouble thee
Let your mercy shine

Cold wet stone
River deep and red
Your cold heart beats inside my head
You know too well
It was me that brought you here
Ohhh trouble get behind me now
Trouble let me be
I pray your mercy shine on me
Trouble let me be

007? There's been several - you'll have to be a bit more specific, as he doesn't look like any of them to me!

DM voice is the kind which makes you want to clean your armpits with a box jellyfish.

Well, what are you waiting for?  Get to scrubbing.

Maybe you really need that jellyfish...Like in Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy You need that fish in your ear. Dave has got talent and as a South African I have seen him perform many times . There are songs from Sting or U2 or whoever I dont like but the band is still exceptional . Enjoy your swim with the fish
Love Dave matthews . Saw him a couple of times in Grahamstown SA in the 90s . He has just such a different way of saying and singing songs . Depth that not everyone enjoys. Live he just takes an audience to another level

This does not suck.
Have always found Matthews, when not annoying, underwhelming.  Chacun à son goût.

Nice tune!  He looks like 007 in the photo.

Please refer to yourself in the first person when expressing what hearing DM's voice makes you want to do.

Music is subjective. Hence, your drive-by drivel is rather questionable.

Don't respond to drunk assholes who own endangered box jellyfishes and abuse them. It's wrong.
I like this Mellow tough .,, 10/10.... Just Listen To The Lyrics
I like DM, but the rotation in the mellow mix channel might be a little high...

May want to try cleaning the excrement outta your ears. PSD if you don't like, bozo.

Ppopp must be more of the Lawrence Welk type. Certainly doesn't seem to appreciate the quality of this band or DM. Is there a PSD button for whiners somewhere?!!?

Complicated, in a good way, I'm supposing!!

Funny... cover pic of him makes me see.....Detective or, bad guy on one of the cop programs!! Lol. Damned fine musicians, this group/DM.
Not normally a DM fan, but this song really works for me.

Yer man looks like the Brit actor Keith Allen (father of Lily) who often plays dodgy/hard man parts, such as his cameo in Shallow Grave. Which is a lot more interesting than this song, which is aural sedative {#Sleep}

ETA: Nope.  Some dude named Stephen Harris...

Never been a big fan but I did give this an 8 for giving it all they had to make me like them.  I would like to hear it again.  With friends is a great vid too! {#Music}

Not a bad song, not going to rate it just yet. Want to hear it again... But I'm curious about what it's about? When did dm go solo and release a Christian song?? How did I miss this?

Christian song? I don't think Dave intended this song to be of religious reverence. Many amazing writers that ponder the profound meaning of life, use words and contexts to convey their spirituality... and on a different side note, I love Dave for everything he is. True that the new stuff will never come close to Crash, etc... the reason I choose to hold on to the old stuff and never let go...
Like most of Dave's stuff, and this one is no exception.  Thanks RP!
When Dave first hit the scene with "Under the table and dreaming" and "Crash", I was a serious listener (and lover) of his music. They actually came to Syracuse (and have come several times after- likes this place, wonder why?) and I attended and loved the show.

But his later albums have left me wanting more and not getting it. He has lost his spark that his earlier works evoked (at least for me). Oh well, at least he did it for a while.

Synopsis? Loved his early stuff, his later stuff is pretty much getting up and putting on the same clothes. Not much going on anymore.

Hence my 1 rating. Don't hate the guy, just don't see much to love anymore.

now, i only started listening at work when i switched jobs 6 months ago, so i didn't listen as much as i would've liked before then but....

when did RP start playing Dave?

I must admit, i'm a bit torn by this development

Finally! Some Dave Matthews on RP! Thanks Bill! {#Dancingbanana}
I really like DMB, why all the hate?
I'd like to hear the Elmer Fudd Version

Cold wet stone
Deep wiver bed
Once so cwean and cwear now wuns wed
You know too well
Was me that cawled you here
Twouble get behind me now
Twouble wet me be

There are a few artists who, on balance I have to say I am somewhere in the "indifferent to dislike" range (Bjork and Alanis Morissette come to mind), and yet there are a few songs by these same artists that come close to godlike for me. Why is that? Dave Matthews is this kind of artist for me. I can live without most of his work, yet this song somehow succeeds on all levels. Great melody, interesting lyrics, cool groove, trippy guitars, an amazing tune! I don't understand it, but I don't fight it. I just enjoy it. Take pleasure where you can.

it's the same phenomenon that accompanies U2, Coldplay and any other band who is at one time or another labeled "the biggest band in the world"...  so haters, take it easy and chill out and people easily offended by the haters, take it easy and chill out as well.  Enjoy the music and let the age old debate continue.  There are very very few sonic transmissions from RP that are not pleasurable.

The ax work is U2ish, but it lacks edge.

I am not a huge Dave Matthews hater, like many other people on RP,

but this is ponderous and lame.
I think Cat Stevens take on the subject was better.
sounds like Dave met Peter G on this one.

18% ones should be enough to nix this tune...

God, get OVER yourselves, people. This man is talented and has created a distinctive sound. I really like this song - it stands out among a body of excellent work. Agree. This album is fantastic, varied and nothing like traditional DMB stuff.
This song was better off those three years when it wasn't being played here.

firm_stool? Good lord man, there's not much of a self importance issue with you is there? Yanni doesn't sing. But then DM barely does. This song is a rock solid ho-hum 3.
i like it for some reason... I'm workin'... it didn't annoy me in the background.
I really enjoy his first album, every one after just puts me to sleep PARKJAGMAN wrote:

I've never been much of a DM fan....a bit too choppy for my taste...but this is a wonderful song...beautiful production values....I like this style of Dave!

love DM! His vocals stir emotions..
This guy's vocals can sure sound like Peter Gabriel sometimes. Not a bad tune. I'm not a big fan but I like this one.
Yes, a little DM goes a long way That time could be used to play some songs in the playlist that havent had much exposure Platypus wrote:
