He comes undone
says he's lost the map his life was on
says everything is unraveling
I take his hand
and then I kiss him like the world is ending and say
"where logic ends, faith begins"
'cause I had a dream
that our hearts were like flowers opening up
everytime that we love
and I'm wondering if we just try and risk everything for love
how can we ever go wrong
Embrace this life
every punch and kiss on this wild ride
the end could be a moment away
we're strong enough
yeah, we get knocked around but we get up
'cause it's hope that's flowing through these veins
'cause I had a dream
that our hearts were like flowers opening up
everytime that we love
and I'm wondering if we just try and risk everything for love
how can we ever go wrong
Nobody said it would be easy
nobody said it would be fair
all we can do is try to keep our fears from running us
just let our innocence be our cure
says he's lost the map his life was on
says everything is unraveling
I take his hand
and then I kiss him like the world is ending and say
"where logic ends, faith begins"
'cause I had a dream

I like Bird York, for sure, but with this I really just want to honour the memory of this dear lady who has contributed so much to this community...RIP, Ann.
Okay - I'm sitting here updating a spreadsheet and this song is playing, and it's so distracting I've stared at the same entry for about five minutes but haven't registered what I'm seeing. It takes a really good song to draw my focus from an important task - Bird York's voice did it.
This is another of those gems I'd never heard before (reminder, Gentle Readers - I live in a place that barely has DSL access, much less progressive music on the radio.)
Bill - I wonder if you and Rebecca know how many times the music you provide has kept me from homicide, suicide, and/or whatever it's called when there's a mass execution of plants - herbicide? Anyway, thank you. And now, I have to go thank the long-lost friend who first enlightened me to RP. She deserves at least a knighthood, although I think she'd resent being called "Sir" (but she'd have a riotous good time with the armor and that big sword...)

It seems that she records songs using "Bird" and acts using "Kathleen." Maybe she wants to keep these two facets of her career separate for some reason.
Nice song, but she should ditch the 'bird' handle. Conjures up wierd images for me. What the heck is wrong with Kathleen?

Lovely face, Dutchess of York,
music cannot keep up with it.

Who is Adam Lambert?
I wonder if her appearance is effecting her ratings? This is certainly no better than anything from Adam Lambert IMHO. Whenever he's played the place goes wild...
Who is Adam Lambert?

Sorry, detractors... I've liked her voice since BIll first turned me on to her several years ago. As for appearance, this album cover certainly makes her look hot.
Wow, I haven't heard anyone mention Rosie Vela in years... I used to really like her stuff!

Adam Lambert has been played exactly once, covering Johnny Cash, and the result was well over 50% "1" ratings, a record. And especially after his self-important stunt on the American Music Awards once is enough.
As for this tune, it's nice enough, in a Lite FM sort of way. 7

the annoying beat box could go.
Her best line on the West Wing was on Air Force 1 when Toby is worried about her flying because she is soooo preggers. He's mad because she is flying.
Toby Ziegler: You have twins in there! You're like a mini-van, how did you get in a seat?
Andrea Wyatt: Nuh-uh ladies, I saw him first!
Could make a 9 next listen, great band. Love the guitar, bass.

That weird closed-throatedness . . . as if
there's cotton ball fluff lining her tongue.
Just sounds lazy, under-ennunciated, and unsung.
Way to shoot for a "Possession" vibe on the rhythm & production.
No, that's not formulaic by now, no, not at all.
This is a pleasant surprise: an actress who sings well and has a good song to go with it. Were it not for the acting history, she probably would have more credibility. I wonder if that affects the ratings.

Bird's an actress... she plays Toby's ex-wife on West Wing... can never forget that when I hear her music...
*That's* why she looks familiar! Why I didn't think to check iMDB is a question for the ages.
Sounds a bit like Morcheeba used to...

I do remember Rosie. I believe she's married to Jeff Lynne and sings with ELO when they tour.

Good stuff, nice voice, and pleasing to the eye as an added bonus.
I wonder if "Bird York" is a wink at "B-jork". Maybe I don't.
A wonderful, jazzy, sultry cd.... highly recommended. And btw, in case y'all didn't know, Bird York plays Toby Zeigler's ex-wife on The West Wing ;)
Beautiful voice, utterly captivating. The more I listen, the more I like. I play this to the captive audience I work with. They do not object..
The more I hear Bird York the more I am impressed by her beautiful voice, rich here, sparkling there, and her light, crisp, elegant, immaculate vocal technique. Her sense of timing and rhythm, the way she touches down on notes, exactly in the right place and with just the right shape, make a line of music into a string of jewels. Intelligence and sensuality, wow, my kinda woman. I'm in love. She could play a goddess as easily as a Congresswoman.
Great sweeping track.... Play more of her stuff please!!
Music that puts me in the mood. Sultry, swooning, sensous... Buy two copies--you'll want to give one to a friend....
I like Bird York, for sure, but with this I really just want to honour the memory of this dear lady who has contributed so much to this community...RIP, Ann.
She is alive and well..
