Tell me why, tell me why, tell me why.
Why can't we live together?
Tell me why, tell me why.
Why can't we live together?

Everybody wants to live together.
Why can't we be together?

No more war, no more war, no more war...
Just a little peace in this world.
No more war, no more war.
All we want is some peace in this world.

Everybody wants to live together.
Why can't we live together?

No matter, no matter what colour.
You are still my brother.
I said no matter, no matter what colour.
You are still my brother.

Everybody wants to live together
Why can't we be together?

Title of this song, though appropriate at all times, is even more so in these turbulent times. BTW- Love the song. 9
This just makes me want to dance like the dad I am.

NO,  not much is able to be cooler than Sade!
Retro Cool
The Bontempi organ lives! There is something so amazingly effortless and cool about this.

I know nothing about producing or mixing music, but isn't the voice a little low and the instruments a little too high on this song? Can someone who knows what they are talking about confirm or deny this?

It's always sounded fine to me.  It was a demo that Thomas had recorded by himself; the only instruments are an organ and a percussion track from an early rhythm machine.  Apparently the producer at the label he pitched it to wanted to re-record the song with a full band, then listened to it some more and decided that "it was already done."
Talk about One Hit Wonders. Whatever happened to this guy?! This is one incredible number tho
Nowdays so true

Liking the new Iggy Pop-Dr Lonnie Smith version
Would love a ringtone with this song!
Tim Thomas in the NBA, another in the NHL and today I find out I have a namesake in R&B.... It's a good day!

I don't think I've ever heard this original before. Nice.

Because we can't put political differences far down on the list.

I knew hers and Winwood's. Both great covers. I'm sure there are others beyond theirs and Al's.

SO TRUE - Why can't we get it together?

Because we're told we have to!

Well the really big problem is that not everybody loves to live together , some love to live on copper road and some like not to live at  all
BillG, is it true that this piece was recorded in mono?

And, do you have the complete recording (6-7 minutes) with the slightly shambolic finish?
Now knowing that this is the original, I prefer this one. Got more of a coolness to it.

Didn't Drake sample this organ for Hotline Bling? {#Rolleyes}

Yes he did.  Thomas is credited as a co-writer on Drake's recording.

Hardon my possible hyper-masculinity, but Sade's version is so much... grabbier...

Sade did it better, but not terribly different.
love this! Never heard it before. Thank you! Cannot stand Sade.

I mean, it was either that or the Nintendo Wii theme music.
Nice!  Glad to hear the orginal.  Didn't know it wasn't a Steve Windwood (et. al.) song.
haven't heard the original in years! thanks RP. yet again, you are rocking my world! I think Sade's version is quite good as well
SADE, she made a good reminder.
Difficult to swallow the lyrics
But true in Intend.

try SADE.

Very interesting for someone like me who's only ever heard Sade's version.  A solid 7.
Nice to hear the original.

Won't make you forget Al Green, but this is good after-hours chill. Though, the organ threatens to make the whole thing feel like a salesman's showroom demonstration at your local Pianos and Organs Outlet.
Exellent!
Ick.
Very nice choice, Bill! :nodhead:
