The days done
and the moon's up
and I'm pacing the cage of my heart
I cannot stop
this aching
always leaves me
dizzy with the Need
just wanna feel someone
that's the time I wonder what it is you're doing
and I slip in your mind like a daydream
I am guilty of haunting you
I am the song that stays in your mind
I am the breeze you feel upon you
I am the ghost in your bed stirring your desire
in the silence
in the shadows
in the uncharted land of your heart
you will hear me calling to you saying
don't be afraid of the dark
you're not alone I'm closer than the breath within you
I am under your skin , can you feel it?

As of October 2024, Ms. York has two full-length arms.

All of which are excellent choices.

Reminds me of a singer I stumbled upon in England that never really made it here named Jerry Burns.
Isn't this that popular singer from Iceland?  Oh wait, no that's "Bjork", not Bird York

I was replying to something; taking my post in that context might clear things up a little for you.  But let me help:  "One of many similar female artists...".  The fact that this sounds nothing like Bjork (or anyone else I could immediately think of) was basically my point.

Yes, I hear Zero 7 too, which is nice.
What a lovely voice.

YES!  I'll take that "reminds me of" over "sounds like Bjork" ANYDAY!

(although I was gonna say she has a white-Sade thing going on, and I say that as guy who "dated" an Asian-Sade sounding girl after high school)

Yes Piranga is right, the hook is reminiscent of Joe Jackson's song Steppin Out.

Smoky voice ... very nice tune.
Does she look like Rene Russo? {#Whisper}

Rene Russo
Good music
Nice voice
Oh, this is good.  It's not often I purchase an album on the basis of one track, but here we go......

edit:  just listened to this album in the car this morning.  Certainly a mellow drive.  I enjoyed it.

Details?  Because, you know, she is haunting me pretty badly.  (Google gets my query all confused with places in "York, Maine".)
I always hate this song when it first starts,  but when she gets to the chorus I remember I really like it.
Bad! Not the good bad, but the bad bad!
Does Bird York have a Twitter feed?  {#Mrgreen}
.."that's the time i wonder what you're doing / and i slip in your mind like a daydream"..(if i caught that right)..

..down-to-earth & a flight of imagination, all at once..
Interestingly (to me, anyway), she records songs using "Bird" and acts using "Kathleen," as though she wants to keep these two facets of her career separate—maybe to see which wins out in the long run, thus making her smart as well as multi-talented and beautiful! Get in line, guys!

I doubt that will assist in passing the Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Desktop Support Technician certification.  However, it will make studying less sucky.

Well, as this album appears extremely difficult to find online, it seems the laws of supply and demand hold...

Too bad it's not on iTunes. I tried to buy it, to no avail. It is a great song. I'm a big sucker for rich harmonic structures and weird chord progressions...
I Monster should follow this.
Dammit! It's time to leave work.... but I don't wanna 'cause I can't take RP with me! Now, that's just wrong.
Quite a talented human being. This isn't bad ... no, not at all.

I've had the album for a long time but hearing this song once in a while on RP gives me new appreciation for it.
definitely K.D. Lang vibes. I like her better on RP than on the West Wing.

You're thinking of KBLX in Oakland. I heard her on KKSF from San Francisco. The name of the song was Magic Smile.
I hear a little K.D. Lang... And a great voice. Its a 9, if it doesnt get too much .... Bill....

Yes, and us to punish. I just don't get folks who rate more than half the songs 1's and 2's. Why torture yourself AND us? Well, from my last rating go-round, the song's grown on me (to a 7). This Bird's got some talent.

Truly hated this for the first 2 minutes. Then, like some form of musical chicken pox, it began to grow on me. I'll have to hear it a few more times to really decide. Stuck a 6 on it for now, but, the jury is clearly out on this one.
Would be interesting to hear this segue into Talk Talk- "It's My Life". I agree that the bridge sounds very similar. This song doesn't do a whole lot for me, but makes me want to hear the Talk Talk song....
The jury is still out on this girl. This is nice but I don't know about her other stuff. Must listen more when another York rolls around.

would love to hear this followed by You Made Me The Thief of Your Heart
When I get mellow, I ripen and then I rot (Woody Allen, "Annie Hall").

You mean it's not? 8O This song really cuts me both ways...I like Bird and her voice, but it's also very reminiscent of Anita ("Sweet Love") Baker, and that is most definitely NOT a good thing. Guess I have to give it a 6.
Sexy, breathy voice in the verses, then it gets sort of Dido-y. Nice beat.
