I'm gonna put it six feet underground
You said I'm gonna buy this place and watch it fall
Stand here beside me, baby, in the crumbling walls
Oh, I'm gonna buy this place and start a fire
Stand here until I fill all your heart's desires
Because I'm gonna buy this place and see it burn
And do back the things it did to you in return
You said I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
Oh, and I'm gonna buy this place is what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head
Honey, all the movements you're starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I've made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They say start as you mean to go on
Start as you mean to go on
Said I'm gonna buy this place and see it go
Stand here beside me, baby, watch the orange glow
Some'll laugh and some just sit and cry
You just sit down there and you wonder why
So I'm gonna buy a gun and start a war
If you can tell me something worth fighting for
And I'm gonna buy this place is what I said
Blame it upon a rush of blood to the head
Oh, to the head
Honey, all the movements you're starting to make
See me crumble and fall on my face
And I know the mistakes that I've made
See it all disappear without a trace
And they call as they beckon you on
They say start as you need to go on
As you mean to go on
As you mean to go on
So meet me by the bridge
Meet me by the lane
When am I gonna see that pretty face again?
Oh, meet me on the road
Meet me where I said
Blame it all upon a rush of blood to the head

From their first records on (I used to be an early fan) I liked Johnny Buckland's guitar playing for the unagitated manner.
Until I thought about it and came up with the solution he is just a bad guitar player, because more or less he is doing the same simple things over and over again. plusminus some echo-y stuff... anybody noticed that as well?
Said that I kinda feel sorry. I am not a hater, I was just so disappointed at least since Viva la Vida as I seriously enjoyed Parachutes and Rush :-/
Oh bullshit. You, and many others, are just jumping on a "I Hate Coldplay" bandwagon started by some useless celebrity.
The question mark intrigues me
You're a Philistine.

I agree, Coldplay sucks, this song is 'probably' good because it sounds like Even Less by Porcupine Tree, otherwise it would suck too
Run for your lives! The ABBA fans are taking over RP!!
Mama Mia! You coulda kept the ABBA part to yourself, but I'm gonna let it slide, cuz you seem like a pretty cool dude. ; )
I like ABBA too. And I like also Coldplay and a helluva lot of other stuff. And I think that when musical tastes are concerned it is better to give a shit to what others might think :)
OK. I admit it. I like Abba, Coldplay and U2. Does that make me challenged? Tasteless? Confused?

Yup most of us do. However, as with U2, the haters are a bloody noisy bunch...
Chris Martin gets hammered for his lack of macho posturing that is so common in rock. He doesn't sing with a lascivious leer or snarl (thankfully, he doesn't have the nasal voice of Deathcab, the Decemberists and countless others).
His band doesn't do cynicism or irony. Top it off with top of the charts success and a celebrity marriage and you get all this hate. A Rush of Blood is their highpoint and sadly their last record or two have been pretty damn weak. Coldplay does happy pop. They should have been born 20 years sooner–they'd have been perfect for the 80s.
Thank you phlattop.
Martin always sings of losing, crying, being weak and confused.
HEY CHRIS,,,,, get a spine!
you do realize that a fair chunk of popular music is about loss, heartbreak, rejection, infidelity, self doubt, right?

Naw —- that would be Creep by Radiohead.
Having My Baby by Paul Anka is in the running, though, along with To All De Girls I've Loved Before by Willie and Julio.
Oh boo hoo hoo. Have you ever heard of "that's his act?" The guy is married to Gwyneth freakin' Paltrow for goodness' sake. I don't think he's exactly emo in real life.
So he's just a poseur, then. I'm not sure which is worse.
OK - Those who think that including RH's Creep with this dreck makes absolutely zero sense, say NAY.
By resounding and overwhelming majority the NAY's have it.

You must live a very sheltered life when it comes to music. If this is the worst song in the world, we should all consider ourselves extremely lucky.
VERY GOOD!! Excellent reply!! Couldn't agree more!
As for this song: 7
Thats what i first thought!!

Talk about a long distance (in more ways than one) Flame! LOL
own the genre for boring, middle-of-the-road, tone flat vocals and predictable music
This could very well be the worst song in the world.
