Little Boy Blue come blow your horn
The dish ran away with the spoon
Home again home again Saturday morn
And never gets up before noon
She used to render you legal and tender
When you used to send her your promises boy
A dillor a dollar unbutton your collar
Come out and holler out all of your noise
Little boy blue come blow your top
Cut it right down to the quick
Don't sit home and cry on the fourth of July
Around now you're hitting bricks
So abracadabra now she disappeared
Everything's Canada dry
So watch your behavior and rattle your cage
With a bottle of bourbon Good-bye
Little boy blow lost little Bo Peep
She fell through a hole in the nest
Now ain't it peculiar that she's finally cooled your
Big wheels just like all of the rest
Whenever it rains the umbrellas complain
They're always get played for a chump
So mark and strike it, she's history now
And you're hanging out at the pump
Little Boy Blue come blow your horn
The dish ran away with the spoon
Home again, home again Saturday morn
And never gets up before noon
Well she used to render you legal and tender

Everything's Canada Dry
Yes I too, love Holly Cole, especially in the fish net stocking days, the whole package for me. That's pronounced packarge, BTW.
Love Holly Cole.
A TW cover by someone with a great voice, unlike TW's versions.

Roger that. An impressive set of interpretations. My Tom Waits collection wouldn't be complete without Holly Cole's Temptation.

Not very tasteful or original, making a whore's song out of nursery rhymes. :P

Holly Cole is fabulous. Great bass on her albums as well - and they are all beautifully produced.

Mmmm - just something about them canajun wimmen (Joni Mitchell, K D Lang, Sarah McLachlan (need I go on?))
If you like this try the rest of the Holly Cole Trio's 'Temptation' -
an album entirely dedicated to the songs of Tom Waits - smokin'!

Ooo - good catch, macadavy! I especially love "Jersey Girl" - SO sultry. (And it was used in an episode of "La Femme Nikita" with Peta Wilson's character of Nikita and the late Simon McCorkindale's character slow-dancing on his yacht. Mmmm.)

Loves me an upright bass.
Loves me an upright female vocal, too.
(The vocal, that is... The females themselves, I prefer in other positions. ;-)

Yes, I learned about Holly Cole in a self-described audio emporium...one of their "demonstration discs." (Don't Smoke in Bed)
She may be an acquired taste, but then, isn't that true of many things?

Let us pray to our gods that she remains there.
Wow, I just saw the original (I'm presuming) version of this in One From The Heart. That version was... a lot weirder. And in the commentary, Francis Ford Coppola self-congratulates himself for inveting the music video, or something.
Wow! I have this! I'll have to dig it up.

Holy Cole has been in Canada for sometime - I would strongly suggest her Johny Nash cover of "I can see clearly Now"
She has a great trio that used to go coast to coast about twice a year it seemed.
Beautiful and talented and very very slick
Just as Dianna is
I have no idea why she didnt catch on like Dianna did (maybe because Dianna got huge fans like Clint Eastwood right out of the gate)

Great record by Holly - all TW covers. The Briar & The Rose is my personal fave off it.

What a great set! It's got my weekend started right!
Wow, I love that. Once again I turned on Radio Paradaise to a really wonderful song I'd never heard before. Very cool stuff.
wow. smooth and a little rough at the same time. and covering waits is ambitious as her amg entry states. very nice. wonder if she tours and what are the chances of her hitting yoshi's in oakland. i'd love to hear her live.
Wow! A Tom Waits cover I like.
Very nice.
(Also makes me want to watch One From the Heart again.)
Holly Cole has an amazing gift of turning songs into moments of time that drift around you - and you can feel them as much as you hear them.
Heard of her, haven't heard her until now. Pretty classy stuff.
