You're right. I was thinking of David Grisman playing with Jerry. Man they sounded sweet together.
All of the DAWG series was great. DAWG grass is a fave of mine. This is very reminiscent of that.
I don't usually like this type of music but I'm liking this
The mandolin playing makes me feel like shedding a few tears. I like to shed tears now and then. The singing fits the song. The haunted, scary undercurrent really works for TIm and Darrell. Maybe you should play more of their work . . .

That is some sweet mandolin!! I gotta start my lessons again... *sigh*
Agreed...to both. :nodhead: Such a fun instrument to play! This is great inspiration.
eek how did this get in there? too tinny sounding with that banjo.
Wow, where did THAT come from? Talk about taking a bullseye shot on my mood . Cranked up the Shure's, listened so closely to hear the echoing in the room as they sang and played, and wanted more than anything else to be there with them as they played and sang from the heart.
This...is...wonderful. 9, easy.

It took so long to find the AMG link for this album, it's a shame this listener didn't look at the comment just before his.......

Me either! I thought this was Jerry Garcia when I first heard the mandolin. This rocks!

Oh, man, Tim O'Brien on RP. A great undervalued performer. The "Songs from the Mountain" CD linked to Amazon (which is loosely based on the book Cold Mountain, not the movie) is wonderful. Definitely worth checking out.
Had a hard time finding the song on AMG. Here's the link: click here Great music.......

Love Darrell Scott's writing....combine that with Tim O'Brien's INCREDIBLE mandolin, and man oh man....Tim O'Brien fans should check out "Red on Blonde". Dylan songs done bluegrass style. Phenomenal!

Sometimes I forget just how much I really like a well-played mandolin. Or two, from the sounds of this track ....
Allright!! I uploaded some live Tim and Darrell, but they didn't get accepted. These two put on a freaking amazing show together, and solo...definately worth seeing if either one comes to a venue near you
