The song is beautiful and I do enjoy it. This is one of those situations in which I struggle a little with the rating system. Personally, I enjoy it at about a seven, which, while an accurate representation of its impact on me, does not do justice to the level of skill in performance, arrangement, production, and engineering offered.

Just playin' his heart out on this one
This makes me want to hear Bitchin' Camaro for some reason.
Yeah, he pounds those keys without any sensitivity. That one note and chord he keeps hitting... Driving through my brain.
Wow, hearing this muzak after the brilliant Satie is some kinda letdown
Nice one.
Furniture music
Sweet transition from the Satie - RIP Ray Mazarek

I've changed my mind. This is god-awful. Elevator music in a morgue.

I remember attending a George Winston concert years ago where, when I looked around half way through the concert, I realized three quarters of the audience was asleep. This piece is from the same mold.
I would play Patrick Watson after Erik Satie instead.
Nice. Looks like the entire CD is dedicated to the Doors. Might have to investigate. My first LP was "The Doors" back in '68 when it came out.
Ha. I didn't notice right away that the track had changed. A very clever segue, Bill.

Let's see...6.4 - "Pretty Good +". Nope, don't see any "treacle" here. Not my favorite, but not that bad.

I could give a shit about George Winston's body of work but this is nice - certainly one of the Doors better songs to begin with.
Coming up next, Yanni does Motorhead!

I could not figure out what song it was, I was thinking it was the Beatles or Bowie, but then I check the playlist and see it's a Doors cover. Cool.
This song translates very well into a piano version - the Doors were always a whole lot more than just Jim Morrison's posturing.

kinda just makes me want to revisit the original.
nice prep for root canal though.

Loved this even before I recognized it as a song I love by the Doors...
Kitsch.
Shows how great a song writer Mr Morrison was to have tribute music played by the great George Winston !

A soothing chill after the dynamic drum-laden ear-blasting "Rhythm of the Heat" from Peter Gabriel. I can feel this number knocking 10mm Hg off my blood pressure already... :)
This sounds like Crysta Ship, oh it is. "As I slip into unconsiousness ...............................6

I'm diggin' it
You just can't please everyone. I loved the Doors back then and this is a beautiful echo of why I did....
Kind...very kind

It was a very new way of experience the doors. I loved it.

It suits perfectly to finish my working day. Thanks Bill.
It perfectly suits the start of mine...fresh coffee, only one other person in the office, gradually starting a new week.
Quite likable, like remembering a good dream
Very nice, but... Just a little too soothing at work.
Nice transition into Mad World, though.
It suits perfectly to finish my working day. Thanks Bill.
Proof that quality music can sound good in multiple genres.

This is like remembering the passion in a melancholy manner, like a great g'friend, gone bad, & not wanting her back, but remembering the better parts...
Exactly, I really like it.
Bizarre. Just imagine if he did "Light My Fire" like this
Please, please, please make it stop!

An impressive piano!
I love the album art. Oh, yes, the music is good too.
Love it.... captures the essence of the song, yet it gives me a new appreciation for the beautiful melody. This cover sounds like a classical piano piece... if I didn't know better you could have told me that this was written in the Baroque period. OK... maybe that is stretching it a tad... but I'm going to give it a 9.

Nice piano work, but still elevator edition of a very strong song.

ARGH. an Ah, Jeez kinda moment passed...
However, technically proficient, but as if he recorded it, then, slowed it down -
Or went ZZzzz himself without Monday morning coffee to perk him up...
I'm Not gonna rate it as I'd wanna rate it higher on technical merit than it deserves in artistic.

Pretty boring set, Bill: Enigma, George Winston, Underworld, Jethro Tull.
When are you gonna wake us up.
I actually like this rendition. Always DID love the piano solo in the middle, so why not George--one of the finest of them all?
Second song off this disk this morning. The Doors' first was among THE great albums ever. This fresh prespective is.....soothing and cooool.
Really nice, crisp piano sound - George Winston's trademark.
I don't really like the Doors anyway, so while this is a bit too quiet for a Monday morning at work, it doesn't bug me in any kind of "this is a betrayal of great music" way.

And he does it so well...
Shouldn't this be on "The Worst of Windham Hill"?
This is like sitting in the dentists's office and hearing bad muzac versions of once-rocking tunes. A tragedy.
<-(
good old george, no one more capable of taking interesting music and turning it into naptime... please get this off my radio!
This is the sound of RP going soft.
It seems to me that he's sleeping on his piano... Anyway, I think I'm gonna fall asleep myself
A wonderfully moody version of this song. Reflective. Quite moving.
only george winston could make a doors song boring
Never heard this version, but love it.
Had to think for a minute before recognizing it.
Does Winston also do "The End" ? That would be nice.
Pretty good, despite the fact that it is a Doors cover.
I cannot state exactly why, but I find this infuriating. George, get some original material and leave the poor old Doors who never sound good in covers alone!
The beginning sounds like "When I was seventeen (it was a very good year)...."
nothing like a huge slug of meloncholy to wake one up in the morning...
Haven't heard him in years. Takes me right back to his seasonal albums in the mid-80s. Always a welcome refuge from the horrid pop music of the day.
George Winston generally puts me to sleep, but this one keeps tugging at me.
Interesting... not unlike Tori's version of Teen Spirit
From the first few notes, I knew it was George Winston. Took a while to catch that it was the Doors' tune. Now I want to hear the rest of the album. (I gave it a 5)
groovy version of this song!
