In here it's always midnight
In here it's always dark
In here there's always a shadow cast
By these florescent lights
In here forever is a dying myth
In here forever is a lie
In here forever is a space between
Your every breath
Midnight
It's never dark enough
To hide us from tomorrow
Never dark enough
To keep us in shadow
In here
Midnight is always
In here I still here you whispering
In here I hear your fragile voice
In here I hear your laughter floating down
Like paper rain
Midnight
It's never dark enough
To hide us from tomorrow
Never dark enough
To keep us in shadow
In here, midnight
Midnight
It's never dark enough
To hide us from tomorrow
Never dark enough
To keep us in shadow
In here
In here
In here
It's always midnight
In here it's always dark
In here there's always a shadow cast

What's up with the name? Is it a spinoff of Jump Little Children?

this is nice
Great to hear one of my favorite bands on RP. For fans of Jump/JLC, Jay Clifford (lead singer) has a solo CD out now called "Driving Blind". Zach Braff (of "Scrubs" and "Garden State" fame) is helping Jay with a video for his first single, "Know When To Walk Away".
Beautiful.
My father lies in the next room, struggling for breath, calling out in distress. He is dying of cancer. This is the darkest day of my life, and his. I weep for him. The darkness is so dark. The promise of light tomorrow sustains me.
In here it's always midnight
In here it's always warm
In here there's always a shadow cast
By these flourescent lights
In here forever is a dying place
In here forever is enough
In here forever is the space between
Your every breath,
Midnight
Never dark enough
To hide us from tomorrow
Never dark enough
To keep us in its shadow
In here midnight
It's always
In here I still hear your whispered pain
In here I hear your fragile voice
I find the percussion to be rather juvenile on this piece.
Nice to hear a really sweet melody.
Hey, this is pretty banal.
This does not standup following a great tune like Crystal Ship.

Just the opposite with me. I find it endearing , maybe with the lyrics/subject, harmonies are coolly comforting. Makes me want to send a sympathy card. 8.

And stay tuned for an EP later in the spring with perhaps the best song they've ever recorded, 'Darkest Love,' and that's saying something.
The lyrics posted below by a thoughtful listener are wonderful, and the story is too . . . but it takes away from the dignity to burden the listener with 16 tons of "Oh yeah" and "Oooooo-oooooooo." If only those irritations could be eliminated.
That string line is copied directly from another song... can't place it at the moment...

Tux, methinks you need to stick to Motorhead, Type O Positive, Crash Test Dummies, and the lower end of the baritone vocalists. Tenors just don't work for you. Ah well, taste is such.
Personally, I really like these guys (vocals especially) and what they've evolved into since JLC.

Wow..... you are a tough cookie to please! This guy is leaps and bounds ahead of Mr. Gabriel.... and although Jay has some effects on his voice for the CD, he doesn't use them live and sounds just as good. Can't say that about most other artists.........but I guess it is all about taste.

Saw these guys again tonight doing an acoustic performance with a string quartet. This and many other songs were absolutely stunning. It's a shame more people do not get a chance to hear these guys. Brilliant stuff!
Had to bump up my rating when I read the meaning behind the song. And it was high to begin with. Great tune.
I really like this one. This is about the eighth time I've heard this and I check every time to see who does it. Maybe I should just buy the album...
what a great song...so much feeling conveyed in the music, very emotional! I would like to get the Album I think...
Bought this record earlier this week thanks to RP. Really dig it.
This song has really grown on me...... and, of course, the story behind the lyrics is quite touching.
Ah -- thanks for the lyrics and story behind them. The song caught my ear, so I popped in to rate the song and see how it was doing. Learning that is more than just a pretty melody makes me like it even more.

wonderful song but it's too lyrically meaningful to fit in this set. A tune like this deserves a more dignified setting.
Venus would be beautiful, dignified and far away. Ahhh. That's better!

Evan Bivins, the drummer of the band, wrote the song about his father just before his father died of cancer. And the lyrics are...

all good comments?
First time I've used the rating 1.
The whole CD is just stunning. This is one of the groups I've discovered lately that is restoring my faith in contemporary music.

I like Requiem, too!
This reminds me a lot of Hold Your Tong from Vertigo. The chord structure seems to be very similar.

love. i am in it. these guys never disappoint me. ever. has anyone uploaded opium yet?
I just love this song. Evan Bivins writes some of the prettiest songs this band records and this is no exception. He has a way of expressing sadness through his music articulately and in a way that moves my heart. Thanks to Radio Paradise for adding several songs from their latest album to their rotation this month.
They are gearing up for a huge fall tour so get ready, West Coast, you may get another rare chance to see them in person and that is a treat that should not be missed!
The lead singer of Jump, Jay Clifford, is doing a few solo shows this week in the south and next week in Boston and NYC. If you're interested, see (click here) for details.
Nothing extraordinary, but just as I rated it, quite likeable... will have to get a hold of more of these guys.
This album is getting a lot of playtime lately.
With good reason.
