Why does this song sound like it's tripping over itself?
Although I like the song, I'm not sure it captures New York City. The rhythm of the falling rain? I've been to New York, Bangkok, Reykjavik, Paris and elsewhere. Falling rain sounds the same in every city. A 5 a.m. cab ride? I could take a 5 a.m. cab ride in Cleveland. Manhattan goddess with your Levi's and curls? The women I've known in Manhattan wouldn't go near a pair of Levi's!
New York City is special because of its manic, neurotic grandeur. Although the composer was trying to portray an intimate relationship, I think the lyrics are just too generic to accurately reflect a love affair with a city that is unlike anyplace else.

One of the better live acts. Attend and learn.
I don't care if it captures NYC or not - it captures a happy groove for me, and I really like it. Even now, when it's dark and winter is looming on the horizon. Yeah, bring it on, winter - I gots me some Moe.

I so much want to like this, but I have to say it captures NYC less than any other NYC song Bill plays.

Never listened to these guys, even though I was a big fan of some of the 90s jam band scene. The guitar in this is pretty cool though.
