This ain't no long journey home.
This ain't no trip across the tracks.
This ain't no dead end street
There ain't no turning back.
This ain't no long journey home.

Another tale about an aging man,
A tried but twisted plot,
Another hero finding out that he's not.
Act one we watch the onion peel.
Act two the tragic flaw revealed.
In three we close our eyes as his fate's sealed.

This ain't no long journey home.

Here's a story about a once young girl
Whose life has turned to rot.
Thought she found her dreams but she had not.
Act one we see her bold and strong.
Act two we watch her fumble along.

In three we close our eyes as all goes wrong.

This ain't no long journey home.
This ain't no trip across the tracks.
This ain't no dead end street
There ain't no turning back.
This ain't no long journey home.

A cautionary tale for all who come this way,

A warning writ in water.
Act one you'll see it all so clear.
Act two you'll watch it disappear.
In three open your eyes and stare down your fears.

'Cause this ain't no long journey home.
This ain't no long journey home.
This ain't no long journey home.
This ain't no long journey home.

The CJ s on the main and review channels at the same time. Oh, which song to listen to..?
I have a lot of their CDs. But this song doesn't do much for me. The CD that came out in mid-2000 where they got a new producer (with a Pop Song flair) only got a few spins in my player. They seem too mellow/bored/?? now. Their older CDs really did it for me, but not the new material. I went to the concert with Shawn Colvin in San Diego. Excellent concert. Shawn was good but seemed a little lonely up there on the big stage with just her guitar. CJ was very sounded great. Hi to my fellow Boat People! (although I paid to see the CJ show)
WOW!! Nice tune...
I like this. My rating will probably go up the more I hear it.
Michael Timmins would be glad to hear that. But you couldn't have picked a better tune off this CD? My least favorite tune on it (but still better than 95% of available music). s ZM_Herb wrote:
My upload....I am constantly amazed at the song writing of Michael Timmons and moreso his brilliant guitar work that runs like an undercurrent under his lyrics and Margo's voice - superb musicianship !!

I've known of CJ for a long while--what's that one grim and terrifying song? Something Angel. I've been in love at a distance for ages. Further exposure on RP is deepening the affliction.
Misguided Angel probably. Haunting song for sure.

Wasn't impressed with Stars of Our Stars, but I like this one. I've got tickets for Cowboy Junkies with Shawn Colvin at the Zoo later this month-should make for an excellent show!
That should be a GREAT show. I'm GREEN with envy.

Bought this cd about 3 weeks ago, and on first listen, wasn't overly impressed. I have listened to it ~4 times since, and it has gotten better with each listening.
Not bad, I guess. Seems pretty tepid compared to what I know the Junkies can produce. I found the vocals to be buried in this song ... and that was disappointing.
