yaaaaa, NOT feeling this.
i'm a big "neil" fan. having said that, i think that this is a great cover of this song.

Singer sounds like she's on autopilot. Bland performance, devoid of any feeling.
Nothing like the original..........in fact, ANYTHING done by Neil is better than the remake or rehash. LONG LIVE NEIL!

1. Are you going to take a song from one genre to another and completely redesign the song? Ok, go for it. Examples here are Jimi covering Dylan on "All ALong the Watchtower" or (of all people) William Shatner and Joe Jackson covering "Ordinary People (or whatever the name of that hilarious song is). Another example is Run DMC's take on Aerosmith's Walk this Way.
2. Are you going to take someone else's song and imprint your unique style to it? Ok, that is fine too. The Grateful Dead did a wonderful job on such songs as "Dancin' In the Streets" "Fade Away" and countless others. The Red Hot Chili Peppers with "Higher Ground." There are a lot of good examples.
3. If you are just going to re-sing someone else's song without re-inventing it, and you don't really have a unique style yourself, go to a Karioke bar and annoy the patrons there. Don't cut a record and annoy all of us.

I think my favorites are Like a Hurricane done by Jay Farrar or Cortez the Killer done by Built to Spill (both live)

Strange...I don't remember this in the Disney cartoon at all.
So that where the other copy of Red Earth ended up. There are better cut on the album!

I like the (distorted) electric guitar (sound) best, though it sounds he/she wants to let go more, but doesn't want to get too much in the way of the fragile vocals 
This isn't bad, but it kind of leaves you wondering, "what's the point?"
I can sense that she likes the song like the rest of us, and it would make sense to sing it in the back yard for some friends, or even live in a pub.
But to record it?

This is one of the better Neil Young covers that I have ever heard. I love the voice and the lyrics
I like bit's of this version & bits of Young's original version...but when I hear the live acoustic version Neil does...that has so much expression I can't compare them to it.
I dig this cover. I have the cd that it's on and I still love it after all these years.
I remember seeing them open for the Tragically Hip on the "Another Roadside Attraction" tour back in 95' maybe. I was almost frightened by the lead singer, eccentric for sure.

hats off to them for the effort and choice of music, but the singer is just too detatched, and sounds like she's reading the lyrics from a songsheet.
the band's playing is tight, but lacks any sense of invention and ends up doing a classic pop-band cover.

There is NOTHING like the original, but I do think this is a good cover, as well.
I think this is a good cover of one of Neil's songs.
