Got no reason for coming to me and the rain running down.
There's no reason.
And the same voice coming to me like it's all slowing down.
And believe me

I was the one who let you know.
I was your sorry-ever-after.
Seventy-four, seventy-five.

It's not easy, nothing to say 'cause it's already said.
It's never easy.
When I look on in your eyes then I find that I'll do fine.
When I look on in your eyes then I'll do better.

I was the one who let you know.
I was your sorry-ever-after.
Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Giving me more and I'll defy
'Cause you're really only after
Seventy-four, seventy-five

Repeat Intro

Got no reason for coming to me and the rain running down.
There's no reason.
When I look on in your eyes then I find that I'll do fine.
When I look on in your eyes then I'll do better

I was the one who let you know.
I was your sorry-ever-after.
Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Giving me more and I'll defy
Cause you're really only after
Seventy-four, seventy-five

I was the one who let you know.
I was your sorry-ever-after.
Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Giving me more and I'll defy.
Cause you're really only after.
Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Seventy-four, seventy-five.

Me too! Another RP introduction for me. Nice!

high school & college flashbacks!  {#Cowboy}

Ditto!  I am surprised this was released so long ago, too!  This has a very timely feel to it - nice fit with other songs played on here.  This is the first I have heard of this group too (hence the reason I thought it was a new song...) - thanks RP!!

I was doing the same in 74-75.....................but as a senior.

I'm one of the fortunate that has Fun 'n Games on cd.

I upped my rating cause they're from my hometown (Raleigh). They do have other good songs that might be appreciated by the RP crowd.

edit: I guess maybe I should upload some and see what ya'll think.

I like this kind of stuff, kind of reminds me of Grapes of Wrath...Tom Hooper.  Haven't heard them on RP yet.

Fabulous album—sadly neglected. One Simple Word is also superb.

actually i believe it would be that guster is rather connells-ish
Not so good when played right after Bob Dylan' Shelter from the Storm.

I love this, it brings back memories of Uni...

Lovely!

Always liked these guys.
Probably one of the best songs of the 90's.
Can you dig it? I can.
Nice sound... I like this. :o)

Always loved these guys, but something about this one just pulls me in. Outstanding!
Good luck finding this track ANYWHERE. ITunes doesn't have it... The digital age is going to be bad for smaller artists. This thing is very hard to find and I'd like to add this to a mix...
I rate this 7.4, 7.5.
yea, I graduated from high school in 75...no 74...75...74..75....

Its hard to objective about a song that means the early days of college. No major, no worries... That's a nice Southern scene on the cover. I should've guessed these guys were not too far away from here.
YouTube has the video and a couple other videos (search for "connells").
Grew up 100 km from these guys (Raleigh NC,USA)...Wonderful live band, every member a "class act gentleman", never made it "real" big, toured and loved worldwide, and still play a gig here and now again locally. Quality sincere music. They have many GREAT albums.. just never got airplay.
Wow - young crowd; I was in 9th grade in 74-75; busy trying . . .
Thanks (Peter aged 53)!

I'm still not sure why, but I love this song. 10

Not here--in fact, I didn't even know that's what the title meant.

Here's my memory. In 74 we moved from Burlington Vt. (cool city) to Potsdam NY (hickville) 75. I also started smoking cigarettes in 74 in Vermont and quit smoking in 75. Cigarettes suck. Useless bit of trivia I know but what the hell, join the band.
There is no "WUSS" in ROCK!!
Pretty.
Ahhhh! Wonderful. Though to make the lyrics relevant for me, I've got to switch 'em to "two thousand and four, two thousand and five" -- heh. Nonetheless, I'll be singing it to myself for the next couple days.

OK. I suppose some people may have confused the Beatles with the Rolling Stones too.
Oh, the memories. I saw them in a smallish club back in Germany, when they just had their success with this. It is not as good as I thought then, though.
YES.

There are a lot of great songs that they put out. Since they didn't get any airplay from the wonderful radio stations out there , does that make them bad? Then you better quit listening to Paradise.

I like the line "I was your sorry ever after." Clever.

I was conceived in '74 and born in '75! OK, useless bit of non-info there. Decent track this, but only just.

I thought this was Smashing Pumpkins' song?
Sounds like they've been gone for quite awhile. RP just digs things up from nowhere. Which, of course, is why I love them. GolfRomeo wrote:
If you've never seen them, it is an experience. I've caught them live 3-4 times, back in 88 during Once Simple Word was the first. I saw them about 2 years ago in a bar, and it was weird. I expected kind of this laid back positive show, and what I got was one of the loudest, most edgy shows I've ever been to. Crazy shit. Lead singer was drunk and obviously hated by the rest of the band now. They sounded tight, but the whole thing reminded me much more of Black Flag circa 1982 than it did, say, Hootie and the Blowfish.
I didn't know this was CONNELLs... nice, better for knowing it. 8.
simple song with good structure, it is worthy of a high rating.
An unusual one, this. Always think I've heard it to death, then inevitably end up turning the volume just a wee bit higher... Light, yet filling.
An 'average' song at best in an oasis of 'outstanding' on Radio Paradise. I am really suprised this has such a high rating here.

I was at their very first gig. It was at the Cafe Deja Vu in Raleigh, ca. 1984(?). Later got to know Mike Connell pretty well while he was working at School Kids Records. An incredibly nice guy, I have to say.

A haunting, nostalgic sound fits the lyrics well. Effectively bittersweet. :goodvibes.gif:
Wow, quality really makes a difference. I remember hearing this on the LRC and thinking "it's OK" but hearing it now, I really like it. Sounds much better here. Is main channel higher quality? (I use the 128k MP3)
One of several excellent songs from a very solid album. Good to hear this on RP.
