After GP, this sounds like music. Like both artists but these guys harmonize beautifully, better than almost any artist out there. Jayhawks, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Wilco . . . middle american roots rock n roll at its best!

Did these bands "share" any members?  I thought this was Son Volt at first.

I like the Jayhawks WAY more than most people; that is, the people I know who are at least remotely familiar with their music.

I'd be curious to hear from the musicians out there (and I'm not one) why they feel differently. Any musicians out there who don't like these guys?

Those are almost the same band! (You forgot to mention Golden Smog though).
"You came and you gave without taking" - that's straight out of Barry Manilow's Mandy, which is vastly preferable to this effort (and I never thought I'd ever rate a Manilow song). Mute.
I like the Jayhawks, and I like this song. Thank you Bill and Rebecca.

As a Kansas native, it's always good to hear the Jayhawks (yes, i realize they're not actually from Kansas).

Makes me nostalgic for the big-nosed one; at least he was good at what he did

First - that's two people singing in harmony, not one vocalist.
That's stretching the definition of harmony a little far
I love the imagery of this song. Great tune!
After Graham Parker, this sounds wimpy.

most grating vocalist I've ever heard. I'd rather listen to a cat fight. At least there's something interesting going on there.
You see? Now you're just lying to make friends.

First - that's two people singing in harmony, not one vocalist. Second - you're welcome to your opinion. I for one love listening to these guys sing.

A truly great song from one of the best American bands of the last 25 years.

Guess it's raining in Paradise...
"You came and you gave without taking" Oh Mandy!
I love this song!
One of their finest moments. I adore this tune....so sweet and tender. Mark Olson was a class contributor to this band. Thanks R&B!
The best song from their best album. It has a sweetness unmatched in any country-rock since Gram Parsons passed on so many years ago. Harmonies the Everly Brothers would envy. Great guitar-picking. Just lovely.
