The ice is thin come on dive in
Underneath my lucid skin.
The cold is lost, forgotten.
Hours pass days pass time stands still
Light gets dark and darkness fills
My secret heart forbidden...
I think you worried for me then
The subtle ways that I'd give in
But I know you liked the show.
Tied down to this bed of shame
You tried to move around the pain
But oh your soul is anchored.
The only comfort is
The moving of the river.
You enter into me
A lie upon your lips.
Offer what you can
I'll take all that I can get
Only a fool's here...
I don't like your tragic sighs
As if your god has passed you by
Well hey fool that's your deception.
Your angels speak with jilted tongues
The serpent's tale has come undone
You have no strength to squander.
The only comfort is
The moving of the river.
You enter into me
A lie upon your lips.
Offer what you can
I'll take all that I can get
Only a fool's here to stay.
Only a fool's here to stay.
Only a fool's here...
Underneath my lucid skin.

The Lilith Fair was SPECTACULAR!! Went to the Toronto one, to hear Emmylou Harris. Came away, blown away, ever since, after hearing Natalie Merchant & band play "Ophelia", and a bunch of other mind-blowing songs. Thank you Sarah!!!!

I love SM, but when I went to see Tori Amos, she sang a little ditty that went something like "If you're in the balcony, please don't jump and kill yourself, wait for Sarah McLachlan!"

Never ceases to amaze me and calm me.
God what a great song. It makes me wish I could hear this whole album over again for the first time.

Let me introduce you to a new concept: radio station programming. Also called a playlist or a set. It's music designed to flow nicely or go together.
Duh.

Tori must be used to people killing themselves when hearing her music! ; )
loved it excpet for the darn Kenny G. type horn thingy

I sorta agree.

Very nice but I would rather hear this slow tempo material at night instead of the day when I need faster tempo.
The tempo ist just fine with me. Il tempo is right after midnight now where I live. Sorry.

... To see Tori and Sarah perform back to back, front to front or together, would be a real treat, in fact, to see either one anywhere anytime would be like a holiday for me, one that I'd remember forever! ... ...

well hey, fool, that's your deception...

Following Tori Amos with Sarah Maclachlan. Marvellous. Is this vegetarian lesbians hour or something? Bowl of organic home-grown lentil salad anyone? With a twist of lemon...?

Although you can't really justify opinions on the basis of lots of people having them. Let's face it, George Bush got elected twice! Although I suppose it was only once really, but you get my point!
Nope. It was twice.
Ahhh... a Sarah tune from a bygone era. Good memories.

Excellent response, by the way - I enjoyed that!

I suppose I can't speak for the audience, but I think (multiple) multiplatinum album sales suggest that perhaps it's more diverse than you suggest.

Makes me tingle!
Tanks for playing such a superb voice and a really good song.
(Still not as good as Ice Cream though!)
BTW Kate if you want a copy of Ice Cream - drop me a message...;-)

If anyone has Ice Cream I would love it to be uploaded!!!! One of my faves of all time!

older sarah? well, i guess, relatively speaking.... the last good album IMO. straight downhill at a very steep angle from here. still hoping she'll come back to life in the future.
aaah Bill, you just won my heart (again) with these last four songs--Elliot Smith, Gomez, Tori Amos, and now Sarah McLachlan. older Sarah, no less.
Makes me happy.
Good choice from her range of songs
Still one of the most "romantic" albums out there in my mind...

These are off of Sarah's website, which has lyrics for all her songs:

Soothing, Easy, Relaxing, Super.
Great lyrics sung with great passion. A truly fine song!

Wow... nice combination.
Too bad October Project bit the dust.
I like this song, love this album.

Still a powerful tune.
One of the few of her songs that remains in my "like" file... she has become quite pappy. That's not a typo.

Man, this one started just like 'Scarborough Fair'.
Nice, a 7.
I like some songs of her, but definitely not this one....
thumbs down
Really a good cut from a greater album.....
Classic Sarah. God she was good, wasn't she?
