Baby do you know what you did today
Baby do you know what you took away
You took the blue out of the sky
My whole life changed when you said goodbye
An' I keep crying, crying
Ooooh baby
Ooooh baby
I wish I never saw the sunshine
I wish I never saw the sunshine
An' if I never saw the sunshine baby
Then maybe I wouldn't mind the rain
Every day is just like the day before
All alone a million miles from shore
All of my dreams I dreamed with you
Now they will die and never come true
An' I keep crying, crying
Ooooh baby
Ooooh baby
I wish I never saw the sunshine
I wish I never saw the sunshine
An' if I never saw the sunshine baby
Then maybe I wouldn't mind the rain
Ooooh this pain
And I know there would not be
This cloud that's over me
Everywhere I go
Ooooh baby
Ooooh baby
I wish I never saw the sunshine
I wish I never saw the sunshine
An' if I never saw the sunshine baby
Then maybe I wouldn't mind the rain
Ooooh this pain
I wouldn't mind the rain
There wouldn't be this pain
I wouldn't mind the rain
I wouldn't mind the rain

If only she-ee could hold a no-ote...
This is so "from the heart". Jah bless this woman!
Possibly just a tad overwrought.
Beth is OK, but this is drivel.
Its raining in Atlanta, I just watched Episode 61 of Six Feet Under and I think Bill is trying to make me cry.

Longing for the songs of Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Bonnie Riatt, etc...
Hear! Hear! How about some Joan Jett, Amy Ray, Joan Armatrading, Sweet Honey on the Rock, or are they too "feminist" (read : lesbian) for RP??
Just --eeeked up to a 9.
Awe.
So who cares if she's a leetle out of tune? So is Neil Young, and Dylan, most of the time. It's not about that.
This song hits you right in the solar plexus.
Oh man, I miss you WAB......

My entire office agrees
If your in this mood, then this song is good. But, I think some of her other songs portray her voice better.
I was thinking that this song really didn't sound like her writing so I looked it up. I guess it was done originally by the Ronettes. Written by that spooky white-afro guy in the news.
Interesting pair: Pictures of You and Never Saw The Sunshine... While Pictures may cover reams of teenage angst, Beth Orton's tune certainly flies through the center of middle-aged depression or 'cold angst'. Interesting.
Musically, Ms Orton is most excellent.
Painful to listen to.
Bummer. This is disappointing.
I appreciate her talent more and more everytime I hear her.

Most of this album had a lot of electronica - it was sort of a collaboration between Orton and William Orbit. Orbit was the electronic half of a band in the 80's called "Torchsong" that I kinda liked (got it on vinyl) and he went on a couple years later to do the same sort of thing with Madonna on "Ray Of Light."
So, while I usually don't like electronica all that much, and am sort of immune to Madonna, I guess Orbit is the one thing they all have in common, and of all his stuff I find I like the Madonna album best.
I wish I never heard this song.
Now, if she could only sing...

Alternately hate her voice and find it interesting....that is annoying in itself, as I crave a solid reality (which doesn't exist, btw).
Sweet little tune....

Oh, cool. New music for RP! Dreamy and pretty, very nice. Makes me miss rainfall even more than I already do. It made me look right away to see who was playing.
and today it dragged me down. :?

LOL... I could've sworn this was Sarah McLachlan

Another good one from Ms. Orton. Such an arresting, unique voice.
I like Beth. I really do, but this woman could use a singing lesson. She's pretty out of tune most of the time.
Not a big Beth Orton fan, but this is GREAT!
