New York, New York -- I won't go back.
Indelible reminder of the steel I lack.
I gave you seven years, what did you give me back?
A jaw-grind, disposition to a panic attack.

On this side, the incumbent, and who quoth,
There's only one everything -- red sucker mouth.

boring
Love the groove! Excellent!!!
This is one of the few songs that almost forces me to change the channel. Fortunately, I can always count on RP to redeem themselves quickly. But, why push it!

and most of the other sounds, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over (repeat a few hundred more times) again.
More Soul Coughing PHE-LEASE!!! WOO!
For the first minute or so I thought this was Cake.
I thought it was annoying - but unfortunately, it lasted for a lot longer than a minute.

Have you heard much of Mike Doughty's solo stuff? It is fabulous. I was so sad when Soul Coughing broke up, but he's great on his own as well. No upright bass... but I'll take what I can get!
i have heard some of his solo stuff - right here on good 'ole RP! ...and I dig it too.
That's AWESOME! Funnest thing i've heard in a while...
Insanely, wierdly, obnoxiously... cool.

I think I would've liked it better if it wasn't played on Monday morning at 9:00. It was a little much for my present mental state. I'll withold final judgment until I hear it again at a different time. A 6 for now...
That disc is so bad compared to their previous ones, but I'd forgotten about this song, which is pretty cool.
It sounds like it was recorded in the toilet of some night club where a band is jamming, while someone is yelling through a megaphone in the street next to it.
They get an extra point for getting the phrase "panic attack" in their lyrics. I'm sliding a bit towards positive on this offering - kinda like sliding on an old splintery teeter-totter bare nekked.
Ambient. Hypnotic. Dire, I give it a 6 .
Sounds like Santa and his elves on amphetamines...

Soul Coughing? Sounds more like Soul Hacking Up A Hairball. Boring.
If my cat sounded this bad hacking up a hairball, I would give him away!
each one of their songs sounds worse than the next. this one's annoying. no thanks.

while I think there are better soul coughing songs out there, i almost always enjoy hearing their quirk-groove.
I agree, in fact off this album alone there are much better selections. Great band .. and luv that label "quirk-groove" !!!

Soul Coughing just sucks.

This isn't their best work, but it's unmistakably Soul Coughing.
Agree. At first I didn't hear M Doughty and I wasn't sure until I looked. I really like it, but you can't beat Ruby Vroom for a collection of religious experiences.

very talented. mixing of all the elements (percussion, vocals, is that keyboards or sleigh bells?) adds up to a nice groove. main vocal puts me to mind of the fall, when mark e. smith used to carry his cheap megaphone on stage in a brown paper bag. go on, outdo THAT!
This is pretty cool, I dig it, very unorthodox

negative. this song is annoying as is the whole band and this guys voice.
I think this song is especially interesting though. I love to hear what to me sounds like a journal entry that was meant to alleviate frustration of failure. Most of it is "quirk rock" but occasionally you will find relatable meaning and substance. I gave you seven years what did you give me back? A jaw growing disposition to a panic attack.....indelible reminder of the steel I lack
