We just had to ask
Maybe some one out of heaven
Would hear us down here
We couldn't bear to stand
How the people leave us waiting
For something up there
Oh, why did you leave?
Why won't you come?
And save us again?
Come back to us spiders
Come uncrushed my hand
Let me sent beauty rain
And bring us love again, like you can
We just didn't know
Some one there outside of heaven
Heard us down here
We couldn't stand it here
Other people leave us longing
For something up there
Oh, why did you leave?
Why won't you come?
And save us again?
Come back to us spiders
Come uncross my hand
Let me sent beauty rain
And bring us love again, like you can
So much time, we need to ask everything
How did it go, you need it I got it
Come back to us spiders
Come uncross my hand
Let me sent beauty rain
And bring us love again, like you can
Maybe some one out of heaven
Would hear us down here
We couldn't bear to stand
How the people leave us waiting
For something up there

Moby. Always the same. Generic, trivial, boring.
Not a song you want to come on if you have the slide show playing and you suffer from Arachnophobia!

Not sure why it just now dawned on me; this has got to be a shout out to Ziggy Stardust. Spiders and hand crushing? Gotta be....Long Live RP!!
And until I confirm or refute this statement, I'll go 7→8

Too late Moby, those spiders are coming to get you in that penthouse...

Moby is standing in the penthouse event space of the Hotel Rivington on Rivington St. at Essex in Manhattan's Lower East Side, looking south by southwest toward the World Trade Center. The building above his right ear is 79 Delancey St. at the corner of Allen St. I have been in and on the roof of 79 Delancey several times. It's distinctive in that neighborhood. Can't miss that landmark.

Another first for me here on RP. And I'm a sort of Moby fan. My bad.
As a NYC locations scout for movies/tv/commercial, I'd place a bet that the album photo was shot in the penthouse of the Hotel Rivington, on Rivington St. in the Lower East Side — two blocks from where Moby used to own a tea bistro. Hmmm. And if I could figure out how to put a photo on this site, I could just about prove it.

I should have grokked that.

So I was right about the "uncrush my hands"? Dear sweet FSM, that is just - awful. Really silly and awful in a bad high-school poetry way. I'd knock it down a notch or two in my ratings, but I've already given it a 2 and I refuse to give anything a "Sucko-Barfo" on principle. Sorry, Mobester. Not good. Stick to the instrumentals.
Yeah, like spiders would even want to uncrush our hands after everything we have done to them!

BillG is full of surprises this morning, this tune hasn't been played for a long time!
I'm happy to hear it and 7 rate.

Lots of prejudice against him for some reason. Success too fast? Elevator music? Short and kinda wimpy? Whatever. I think he CAN sing and this tune has a nice melody.
Gawd if I never hear that song again I will die happy!
Hey, I never knew Moby actually sang WORDS in his songs.... usually just falsetto humming....
good for Hallowe'en, though, the thought of bald little spiders running around...

ARACHNIPHOBIA!
Like this one a whole lot! Guess the low ratings overall knocked it off the playlist. Oh well...
Everytime I hear this song I think the phone's ringing and I take off my headphones.

Ok, I've given the song a couple plays. It sucks. Moby uses repetition to his advantage on his instrumentals and mixes, but when he sings, it drones. And yeah, the lyrics are inane. "Uncrush my hands"?? Straight to a generous 2.
This song, and the whole Hotel album did nothing for me. I used to like Moby, and to date I still reckon his best album was Play.
Sadly I was not impressed with 18 or Hotel.
A harshly rated 2 from me. <-(

Still, not getting why Moby ever got a recording contract.
I've always found him to be completely overrated. The weakest melodies ontop of chord progressions that are about as original as anything Britney has ever popped out (so to speak) and vocal skill/control that any 7 year old could put to shame.

His vocals are VERY weak until he hits the bridge/refrain/whatever. That said, I still give it an 8.
remember when moby wasn't mediocre? me neither
Ugh, now I know how the U2 bashers feel... not this song again! Give us the Moby songs that he doesn't sing on!
it's actually a fanstastic song, kinda clisque but anyhow, very likeable. I give it a 8/10.

I actually find myself liking this less every time I so much as think about it.

Moby needs to quit trying to sing and play instruments. He's about as mediocre at both as you can get.
I just saw and met him when he played in my hometown. This guy can play the heck out of an electric guitar, bass and the bongos. He's amazingly versatile. I had no clue either... but was blown away by this guy's energy and talent. I still agree with you about the voice though.

Just to add a little balance to the comments, I happen to have LOVED Play and 18. Haven't been blown away by Hotel.
Obviously, someone likes Moby, or he would HAVE to find another occupation. I happen to be a mild fan (who owns 3 Moby CDs only).
Nice song.
But I prefer not to have spiders in my hotel. :curtain.gif:

Haven't heard any of his albums. This song is pretty good.
I hated the albums play and 18, because of the monotony and very amateurish play of instruments. On hotel there's much more rock, but his abilities in playing all the instruments still are awful.
Monotonous and unimaginative.
Okay so far...
First!
