Start my life with someone else.
I've got ways to make you fall,
I'll tell you all the things that I lied about.
I've got ways to make you mad,
Laughing at the girl sitting on your lap.
I've got ways to make you sing my songs,
Ones I ain't wirtten yet.
(Chorus)
I've got lights you've never seen.
I've got moves I've never used.
I've got ways to make you come back to me.
I've got ways to make you strange,
Drug you up and drag you home.
I've got ways to track you down,
In all the places you like to go.
I've got ways to make you crazy,
Wear all the things you always wanted me to.
I've got ways to make you run,
My daddy is coming for you.
(Chorus)
I've got ways to make you hear me,
Just by whispering your name.
I've got ways to make you think,
You'll never be happy again.
I've got ways to make you see,
I'm so much better than before.
I've got ways to make you swear,
You won't want your old life anymore.
(Chorus)
A hot and sweaty bar, where you got to rub the cold beer bottle on your head to cool off.
Most honest feminist anthem ever. A true recognition of the might and power of an awakened woman.
Beautiful, forceful, consuming, relentless.
Love her, but beware.
Really? She sounds a little unhinged and sadly and unnecessarily dependent on a guy. 'Might and power' using her sexuality? I love the tune but don't agree it is an anthem.

What a surprise! Starts out seductively ...
I've got lights you've never seen.
I've got moves I've never used.
I've got ways to make you come back to me.
... then rapidly devolves into crazy-ex territory! SUPERB!
(I previously rated it 8, so now it's a 9!)
Fancy a steam-cooked bunny? :)
I totally agree. Not sure he'd like to see those moves, though.
...and Lucinda borrowed heavily from those before her
...and they from those before them
What's your point?
Thank you.
The tour: her, Lucinda, Sam Philips, and KT Tunsill. With PJ Harvey joining them along the road.
"Walk This World (I Want You To Come)" by Heather Nova should immediately follow this one, of course.
...Not sure if a girl would feel the same though if a guy would sing it to her...
get her to tour with Lucinda
now thats a reason to go on the road for shows
I do hear Lucinda in her voice

I also like this small-girl hubris. Challenge accepted, btw, if she wants to prove herself! :)
wow. someone borrowed pretty heavily from lucinda. girl shoulda changed the locks!
I agree that it has overtones of Lucinda Williams but who cares. It WORKS!

Well it sure is missing some 80's synth, so I guess that makes sense.
Thought I was the only one who noticed that, until I found your comment.
I was corrected 7 years ago... this song came out 2 years before Lucinda's...
*bump*
"I've got ways to make you commmmmmmme back to me!"
Yes, similar production, but entirely different chord progression. As pointed out farther down the page, Benmont Tench from the Heartbreakers plays keyboards on this album.
Here ya' go:
Yes, I think she (and/or the designer) was certainly influenced by that painting.

What's your point?
I'd go see them.
Imagine her and Lucinda touring together. And have Bo Ramsey (her frequent guitar player) tagging along. Geeeeez.
Is she touring again?
She will be playing the Vancouver Folk Music Festival this July; yippee!

This type of country rock is surely needed for the crap they are currently calling "country rock".

. . . or if you're Miles Davis. ; )

She's doing something that she loves. Something new and different for her. That is well received by the community that she calls home. I hardly think that is lame. Lame is more like a person who criticizes someone they've never met over a life decision that is none of their business.
Yes, I say congrats to Kathleen for doing what feels right for her.
She's proved she can be a successful musician (if she wants to).
The music/celebrity business is not for everyone.
Also, think of the countless musicians who had a few good years and then spent literally the rest of their lives going through the motions, playing their decades-old hits on the casino circuit.
really? she has a coffee shop?
that seems like the lamest thing to do
It sounds like a pretty cool place that Kathleen has put together in her home town:

Yes.

Has he just played Runnin' down a dream because he read your post?
Yes, I hear TP all over this. But lots of fun, in any event.
I love the two Kathleen Edwards tune that are played on RP; however, the lyrics in both have a vindictive attitude. Watch out and don't cross her!
She's a rocker and has a long road in front of her.
But it begs the question: Lady, why didn't you use any of those ways before you needed to get him to come back to you?
Well, I don't know much about women, but I'd suspect she didn't realize such measures were necessary — until the moment she did. Boy, am I glad she's not my girl.

I'm in !
The vibrators are indeed outrageous.
In a large bar venue with Kathleen and Lucinda Williams (as long as Bo Ramsey is playing slide). It gets hot, people are dancing, and the vibe is outrageous!

I thought the same thing. Very similar.
Hey Kathleen,
Please tour Midwest venues. You get it...R n R.

also, I always thought the Violent Femmes used this Wyeth as inspiration for their iconic cover art...
Everybody's a critic genius. I am getting an education, but not about music.
I, for one, hope I never grow up
If your scared by a sexually expressive female, maybe you should stay in your hidey hole.
Yeah. Exactly.
I really like this. I can't complain at all.
Yup. 7.

I freakin hope the average age is 17, because your typical 17-year-old is not listening to anything near as good as this.
And she's wonderful to see live...
Are you kidding?
That's what my 3-year old son said to his 5-year old brother today

No
I love it!!! She's totally awesome to see live.
Are you kidding?
No
I hope whoever she wrote this for got his restraining order and locked this chick out of his life.
Weird lyrics, half ass melody..... please help the RP community and never play this again.

Agreed!
Thought it was Sheryl Crow at first! Nope...
Good catch. Benmont Tench, keyboardist for the Heartbreakers, was a collaborator on this track.
Right on. Thanks for the info.

Yeah, it sounds like she is no fun at all.
But they're both whiners. Or overly angsty. Or dangerous. Or all of the above.
