I leaned back on my radio
Some cat was layin' down some rock 'n' roll, "Lotta soul," he said
Then the loud sound did seem to fade
Came back like a slow voice on a wave of phase
That weren't no DJ, that was hazy cosmic jive
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He's told us not to blow it
'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile
He told me
Let the children lose it
Let the children use it
Let all the children boogie
I had to phone someone, so I picked on you
Hey, that's far out, so you heard him, too
Switch on the TV, we may pick him up on Channel Two
Look out your window, I can see his light
If we can sparkle, he may land tonight
Don't tell your papa or he'll get us locked up in fright
There's a starman waiting in the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
But he thinks he'd blow our minds
There's a starman waiting in the sky

'Cause he knows it's all worthwhile

Even if one of my best.... 3 times since 10 days, I think that you can find some more stuff within his 40 or 50 albums...
In high school i first learned what a cult was when my friend devoted herself to Bowie and Ziggy Stardust
There are worse ways to spend your time.
I think there is a mistake Bill. It is not 1994 but 1972 the date of the parution of Ziggy Stardust album
Might be a new mix, this doesn't sound like the mix from the '72 album.
Such a magnificence-man
Nonsense -- Bowie was no punk. Otherwise he would have been forgotten by now.

We all miss you so much David
Not true, some of us are indifferent. Just telling the truth.
We all miss you so much David
Oh, wow -- trip: Summer of '85, I was in full-on Bowie Mode... I had discovered this on cassette in a discount bin in KC on a visit from Boulder and it wound up fueling the entire summer... I scored some black hash and brought it back to Boulder -- we were in a famous drought ('I survived the drought of '85' was an actual T-shirt) due to Mexican cartels and such -- and with my buddy Kevin's upstate NY 'hot knives' technique, the summer -- and our sanity -- those were crazy times! --was saved! This song and album were The Soundtrack!
Bring back black-market marijuana. Said no one ever.
The best of the best
Solid 10.
And if he wasn't a God he most certainly was an Astronaut.
Definitely. The Lazarus video off the Blackstar album is just damn spooky
Meanwhile, PSD to Quicksilver Messenger Service.
... ashes to ashes, funk to funky
... aside from the title track.
A top-ten all-time album by any account.
DB: Ground breaking and very influential for sure. However, Chuck Berry might argue the influence point!
In my opinion - a big , fat YES !!
still..

Thanks justin4kick!
Never heard of Milky Edwards, but I always liked some snippets of old R & B for a nice change of pace...GOOG GOD!

Heh heh heh, have me a chuckle! Quite excellent really.
Amen. Mick Ronson's razor-sharp guitar .... like tigers on Vaseline.
Definitely had his finger on the zeitgeist for this one
So you heard him too?

Yeah, I still play it all the time...a really excellent complete LP.

True, true! I find Radio Paradise has a lot of the same songs as in my personal music library, but for some reason, hearing these songs on Radio Paradise makes the song experience twice as delightful. Is it the element of surprise? I don't know...
The element of random surprise, I surmise.

RIP Mick - one of the all time greats and one of my all time favourites. I saw a couple of the Ziggy concerts and he was a standout.

Agreed - hope he starts with my coworkers. But then, maybe I'm needing the alien from Rapture for that....
Hahahahahaha!
for ever DAVID
Bowie..
Thank you RP.
Just like ELVIS a must.
You know those two share a birthday, January 8th.
To hell with the children I'm keeping this boogie for myself - they mostly don't get it anyway. Give'em 10 years and ask again. Maybe then they can share the boogie.
for ever DAVID
Bowie..
Thank you RP.

Didn't realise that he alledgedly turned down a knighthood! Makes him worthy of even more respect, if that's possible....

Actually, about as far from cringing as you can get. He's included this one in recent concerts.

Art, You have rated as many songs 1,2, or 3 as you have 8,9, or 10. So it appears that most if not at least half of the songs that are played here you dislike immensely.
Maybe it's time to move to another internet radio station?

Out of all the pop songs ever written, these lyrics probably rate at least in the top 50%. There's some really bad stuff out there!
Right you are. Fixed.
Bowie's got to cringe whenever this comes on the radio. Sounds like something written by a 13 year old. Beyond terrible.

Honestly that's not the experience I've had with the current 14-20 generation (I'm only 26 myself). The majority of teens I know think 70's and 80's music is retro, and retro means cool.
Well, I guess we've progressed somewhat as a musical "society" since I was between the ages of 14-20, because 30+ year-old music at that time included the era of Glenn Miller & The Andrews Sisters, and believe me, we weren't calling that "retro" or cool in 1975!
Nope, the BBC one was better :)
Let the children lose it, Let the children use it,
Let all the children boogie
AND what the hell does that mean, other than Utter Crap ??
(woops perhaps I should not have said that but he does really grate at my senses)
P.S. Has he gone yet so I can turn the sound back on ???
Let the children lose it, Let the children use it,
Let all the children boogie

I don't think he cringes at all...

+2 You're right, there's a whole subset of today's youth that is sure they're so sophisticated that nothing is cool or worthy.
Yet they don't have enough experience in much of anything real to even know that they don't know.
The music is there, they can enjoy it or dismiss it as old... if they dismiss it - it's their loss.

+1 It's sad to see all the wonderful things that young people miss because they've designated something as "old" and therefore unworthy of attention. I guess that's how history is lost eh?

Best music ever recorded was in that 72-74 period, hands down. Even current music lovers enjoy a visit to old person land. Nothing wrong with finding great things wherever they are, regardless of "old" or "new."
