I thought for a while that Bill had lost it. But of course he hadn't. Great segue. Pure genius.
Way to go!!
Wasn't there an episode of Cheers where the regulars hummed this to motivate Sam? They really got into it IIRC.
It doesn't get any cheesier than this!

Thanks to Rebecca and Bill for adding another of my uploads. This is the Main Theme from a rich, immediately recognizable orchestral film score by the late, great cinema composer Elmer Bernstein (which here sounds a lot like Aaron-Copeland-esque Americana). It might sit well next to Ennio Morricone or The Clash's "The Magnificent Seven" (to suggest a segue!) . And it says here in the Course Catalogue that orchestral film music counts as one credit towards fulfilling the classical music requirement for graduation!

That's what I've got.
A great big cheesygrin.
...can we hear the seven samurai theme next?..
Hey,
You know what the last thing Yul Brenner said to the barber?
"Just a little off the top"
Jeb, I only have one lung.
What a surprise to hear this!
Best Segue ever

Damn! Is it already time for intermission?!
Come to where the flavor is.
Come to Marlboro Country.
Suddenly I am craving beef.

Absolutely.
Brilliant.
Follow up.
a great score to a great movie. Anyone remember the theme to Big Valley? I loved that song as a kid, but can't recall the tune in my doddering old age.
This will always be Marlboro Country to me.
Oh, I love that theme. (And I don't know the movie, shame on me)

YEAH! I showed my preteens this movie the other night as we were ALL digging it.
I'm bouncing and excited and it's the good America (that idealized thing that only existed in movies) and this is uplifting!
How about Copeland's "Billy The Kid"?
You should show them the original, too!
I just flashed back to my child hood thought of my father...
Hot diggidy dawg
I have a Marlboro promotional CD from 20 years ago. It is pretty cool. It has everything you would expect, lasting about 6 minutes.
campfire crackles
zippo lighter sounds
cattle drive sounds

Wasn't that the "G, B, and the Ugly"? Eli Wallach is a mexican bandito in this one.
I think, "Treasure of the Sierra Madre."

What would be great is if the soundtrack to the movie The Magnificent Seven were played right after this. Not the most original of ideas, but it fits the eclectic nature of this station.

That was a great idea!
The commentary on this DVD is excellent - Eli Wallach said that if he knew that the theme was going to be that good, he'd have learnt to ride better.

I'm 8 years old. My mom walks me to the washroom at the Hillcrest Drive In as the them from The Magnificent Seven plays over all of the little "hang in your window" speakers. That memory is riveted in my mind and I could almost cry when I hear that song.
Ah, the visuals.

I've always enjoyed this flick. The music is great - does sound Copland-esque.
Copeland pretty much defined what the American west is "supposed" to sound like, so anything that sounds like Copeland makes us think of horsemen riding over the prairie, or something.
RP puts the E in eclectic!
Hey, neat.
Man! I need a cigarette!
