More GBS! Seen them in concert a few times and it is a great show, plus, since I'm a homer, Sean McCann is married to a St. Paul girl. Makes it so much better, he's almost a Minnesotaite!!!

Energizing, uplifting, joyous, down to earth, good natured, kind and carefree.....
...these words describe Canadians, and to be specific, Newfoundlanders and their music. This song by Great Big Sea, some of our finest sons from 'The Rock', is typical of Newfoundland, Newfoundlanders, and Canadians in general. We're good people..........
....and those silly children throwing insults in their sandbox in the posts below me....they don't speak for the millions of friendships between people who live in Canada and the US....

Anything by Great Big Sea makes me stop working and immediately turn up RP full blast. And if I'm NOT working, I also feel compelled to grab a cold beer.

Also, nice segue from Knopfler's "Hill Farmer's Blues". Great songs, both of them.

Maybe it's because they play many drinking songs. Makes you think there's not much to do in Newfoundland. Well, I love them. They are a lot of fun. I've been to quite a few concerts in Canada in the mid 1990's when I lived there. I saw them a few years ago here in Chicago and was a little dismayed how big their following was. They had groupies and security and everything.

Totally agree! I saw them in concert though after that album came out, and they performed the album in order....thought that was kinda weird. They are fantastic live though!

I just saw this band at the Mountain Stage show in Morgantown last month. Several of their fans came down from Newfoundland to cheer them on.
I don't listen to this stuff often, but I do enjoy it.
All of a sudden, I have this urge to head to the pub for a pint of lager.
