Yellow sun is shining in the afternoon
I'd really like to tell you but I feel it's too soon
My actions are dictated by the phase of the moon
The phase of the moon

The sun, it isn't hiding when it sets on you
It's not a coward like me and I know that it's true
Waiting for the darkness now is all I can do
It's all I can do

And if the sun should follow us into your room
Then the courage will be wrought from me to tell you the truth
The setting sun's the only thing that's shining on you
That's shining on you

You're making me hungry
But what's really funny is it's not sunny anymore

And when I finally told you when the sun has gone
You're laughing 'cause you thought I was the only one
And the only thing that's left for me is the rising sun
The rising sun

You're making me hungry
You're making me hungry
But what's really funny is it's not sunny anymore
You're making me hungry
You're making me hungry
But what's really funny is it's not sunny anymore

It's not sunny anymore

Raconteurs are best Jack White - Amazingly good live - Lollapollooza in Chicago - great Flaming Lips same day!!!
More Jack White on RP, please.  Solo, The White Stripes, The Dead Weather, The Raconteurs. Even The Saboteurs.
One of my favourite from those folks!
Those drums...

But the way Bill introduced them... I heard "The Racoon Tours". Now that I live in Toronto, I think this should be the name of my next musical project
Was gonna give this a 7 but it's too wild for that, easy 8 from this little mama's boy, peace
Great catchy tune.

I'm curious as to what the rest of the CD sounds like

If you're still asking, you've missed the boat...

Hey! a Raconteurs song I actually like!
whodathunkit?

Waiting for it to grow on me...

Was it negative or merely an observation?  Our yellow sun is indeed a G2V.

Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram (in case you missed that day in 5th grade Astronomy :-) For extra credit, check out G2V.

Bill just explained in a lengthy announcement about the "Herzsprung-Russel diagram" and that G2 was a totally ordinary bog-standard boring star.
I didn't hear it all and I only ever read the comments to see what he was on about. I can't be 100% sure, but it seems that Cruithne3753 made his rather negative, but very original, comment first, which Bill then used to announce the song (after googling what the ~!@#$% it meant). Verry classy, the pair of you.

Cool stuff. Great instrumentation and well produced. I like the 'jamming in the living room' quality.

It's a good thing 5th grade science was Astronomy, or I'd have no idea what you were talking about.

Doesn't do much for me on the first listen. I'll give it a couple more listens though, if Bill wills it.
Me neither, but it did grow on me. I got the album too, and it has some nice tunes on it.

But it is mostly cloudy. :(

I think it's a good CD. Its different enough from the white stripes. Kind of Jack White does the beatles. There's a couple great songs, a couple of silly/stupid songs, and the rest are pretty good. I'd recommend it.
I'd recommend it, too. It grows on ya.

Something of a Robyn Hitchcock/Soft Boys character to it... Pretty good, anyway, in its simplicity. Beats the White Stripes for me.
Naw, I can't get past the Dylan ripoff here. Decent at best...simply nothing new.

Hey I'm really liking this!! However, the album cover is kinda disturbing and kinda stupid; not into it. Oh well!
"My actions are dictated by the phase of the Moon" Catchy & cosmic too!

Drummer, schmummer...he's gotta bass player. GIANT step. Interesting change of pace, BTW.
I have to say the same. The addition of the bass is a huge addition. But I did like Meg White on the drums, she could really hit them.
Rock N' roll lyrics dont require a PhD and a Legalese vocabulary. The simpler, the better. Rock on, Jack White!
There's something about Jack White's quirky phrasing that, after a few listens, makes me involuntarily sing along with lyrics that often make no sense... much as I do with the Flaming Lips and a few others. This is good stuff. The transitions work well.

yep. still sucks.
I'll call them immediately and let them know. I am certain they've been losing sleep at night wondering what you think.

The picture on the cover qualifies them to rename the group as The Raccoonteurs.
The cover photograph reminds of 1982 German folk-rock album by "Ougenweide" I used to own as a teenager.

BJM's "Wisdom" totally rules. . .
I rather dig the drumming on this track. It plays nicely with the groovy funk organ. Fun tune.
The backing vocals remind me of the Pixies.
This is the worst song I've heard all day. And there have been some really sucko songs played already.

I don't know. I just don't trust the Raconteurs. As they say in Diner, do you ever get the feeling that there's something going on that we don't know about?
Growing on me.
This is a funny little foot-wagging ditty with long throws back to early simple rock sensibilities (frivolities!) and it sure grows on me!

touche' !! listening to it again....raised it from a 3 to a 5....it's growing on me!
Sounds like every sucko wanna be song I never ever wanted to hear......
i definitely get the feeling that jack white writes the music first, and then starts reaching into the lyrics-grab-bag to see what he can make fit.

Mr Bob Dylan obviously digs 'em, takin' them on tour with him soon, well, 8 gigs in Nov.?

unbelievable live band
This isn't bad. Not as good as my favorite Jack White work, the "Van Lear Rose" album with Loretta Lynn, but it's got it's own charms. Hope the Stripes aren't going away for good. That would be as big a loss as when Jack said farewell to Detroit. Local music took a hit with that one.
what a fun little song! I LOVE the beginning!

Is it confirmed that they're no longer? Their last tour sorta sucked. They were better before they "made it".
Last I heard they weren't done but Jack was going to do another Raconteurs album before any White Stripes stuff. So if they do get back into the studio its going to be a long time.
sounds like a Donavan take off group. I get tired of the 60's sound...
