We were dreamers and we could listen
We could see farther and we could believe
Watching skies above California, we sit like brothers at the end of America.

And it feels the same, but everything is changing. Yeah tonight, let's wash our souls in the water.

And the waves came in like wild horses, and we fell silent just sitting there,
While the magic sky and the mystic sea were all saying something we couldn't say and everyone's scared, what's at the end of Ocean? Yea, we all pretend, like nothing's gonna happen.

'Cause it feels the same, while everything is changing, yeah tonight, let's wash our souls in the water

And Chad stood up and said, hey let's go find Jeremy, so we walked down the beach til we found Rollyn and Stephanie... and left everything else behind.

'Cause it feels the same, while everything is changing, yeah tonight, let's wash our souls in the water.

And I don't' want to slip into a world of my own...
No I don't' want to slip into a world of my own...
No I don't want to slip into a world of my own...

i love the humidity and sand here in florida, can't have too much ... you're right about the bugs, and NC hillbillies {#Hearteyes}

No, Texas is "Like a whole 'nother country".  Just ask their tourist board.

Where else can you catch a wave in the morning, be on a ski slope in the afternoon, and then hike in the mountains in the evening?   Not Texas.  You should come out here sometime and see for yourself how "ugly" it is out here.

reminds me of travis at times.
Has anyone listened to this entire album?  I like this song, but hard to know how good the album is from the 10 second clips that Amazon has online....
Tom Petty-ish??
Cure - Fascination Street.  Anyone Else?

OK, I live in Santa Barbara. We continually say "Another day in friggin Paradise" - it gets old after awhile! It's always beautiful and perfect...although right now we are in the days of fog...

I know that Santa Barbara has a very 'cool' side to it.  But when the wife and I passed through a few years ago, all I remember is the big friggin' freeway SEPARATING the ocean from the town.

This song is nice and keeps growing.

BTW, we continued south and spent over a week backpacking into the headwaters of the Kern River valley (Golden Trout Wilderness area, etc).  It was gorgeous, the trails and remote camp sites were remarkably clean, the Golden trout were numerous and in good health.

I would like to thank a whole bunch of active Californians for taking such good care of this little gem of backcountry.

I was less keen on the F-16 jets blessing us with sonic booms on occasions....  Oh well.

We're thinking about you in California, Bill and Rebecca. Stay safe and get out if things get too close.
This song is wearing me down and causing me to up the rating.
The former lead singer of Red Guitar, John McKenna, made a solo record dedicated to the musings of California, Stone Cold Summer... other wise known as ...California Pop

California is not a city. And I don't see any horns on you.

Passed Neil Patrick Harris (duggie) and his boy on the stairs at the Malibu Getty Museum. Man I love California.

It was cloudy and cold most of today in San Diego. But it was friday.

no sun here in cali today folks. The fog monster has covered it up.
Yeah, the Cali-Sun thing is somewhat of a myth (at least for Northern CA). I used to live in San Francisco and we'd all giggle at the bewildered tourists walking around in the typical cool, windy, foggy weather wearing shorts and tank tops, freezing cold, wondering why it wasn't sunny and hot. SF usually isn't hot and sunny, people.

good tune
This song isn't doing anything especially new, but that doesn't stop me from really digging it. This song could fit on a Jayhawks album seamlessly.
Not bad.. not terribly good either. Just sort of happened, but not in an offensive way.
another mediocre song with a really promising opening...

gotta love Local H
too much damn introspection not enough fun.
Yahhgg-Blahhh Red Guitar calls this California? I live here. That isn't it. Come to think of it RP broadcasts from here. ***grumble mutter snark** Okay the lyrics aren't bad. If they were put to something other than a monotanous monotone. **snark mumble** Its an indie band. Maybe they're young. Maybe they're just starting out. Maybe they'll get better. In the mean time I give up.**goes of grumbling in disgust**

Its a darn good point. Although in the case of RHCP's one song, Californication, no other state allows you to allude to a sex act by adding "ication" to then end of its name. But really, how about Oregon or Alaska? Maine? New Hampshire?
But Sufjen Stevens has a great album title: Come on Feel the Illinoise, which I think is just as good as Californication.

Kind of Decemberists meet Son Volt. I just love Cali music!

Maybe it's cause I don't live there anymore and miss it, so nostaligia gets me... ...but IMO California deserves loads of songs and poems and paintings and films and all of it. My favorite piece of earth.
Hmmm ... seems pretty bland to me.

That opening guitar bit is very familiar...but I think not from hearing this song before. Hmmm. Anybody know? Elliot Smith?
