Blue Monday how I hate Blue Monday
Got to work like a slave all day
Here come Tuesday, oh hard Tuesday
I'm so tired got no time to play

Here come Wednesday, I'm beat to my socks
My gal calls, got to tell her that I'm out
'Cause Thursday is a hard workin' day
And Friday I get my pay

Saturday mornin', oh Saturday mornin'
All my tiredness has gone away
Got my money and my honey
And I'm out on the stand to play

Sunday mornin' my head is bad
But it's worth it for the time that I had
But I've got to get my rest
'Cause Monday is a mess

Gotta bump this 10 year old comment to the top
Not even Michael savage when he was on could not ruin this song for me
Give credit where it's due. And respect.
The fact that this song is so good i can overlook michael savage using it for bumper music
The sax is also out of this world!
Thanks bill this made a rainy Monday in a chilly (43f 6c) North Carolina much better!
Fat's is the man. Need Chubby Checker followup!
86th Birthday coming up on February 26th! Thanks for the music, the words and bringing the sound of New Orleans to the world!

Just a fad. It'll never last.
In a CLASS-IC all by itself!
I like to imagine an alternate universe where New Order's Blue Monday is a cover of a song that sounded like this, but with New Order's lyrics.

Fats is still belting it out every Monday night in Austin. There was a big format shakeup at KUT recently, but if they had messed with The Blue Monday Show there would have been rioting in the streets.

man, what is it about Fats' music?!...it just always makes you feel better. Great stuff.

What? A petard, if that's what you mean, is a bomb. Hoist on his petard means blown up by his own bomb, kind of like shooting yourself in the foot, only worse.

But it's more interesting (and funny) than that.   The petard was named after the middle French word for "fart".  So to be hoist upon your own petard could have a less lethal, but maybe more noxious meaning.

Here's to Fats. Go man go.

And here's hoping he does not get flooded out AGAIN. He still lives in the Ninth Ward. Best wishes.
Reminds me of New Orleans {#Bananapiano}
His cousin Skinny Dice is pretty great, too!
I play this little game with my wife (don't start!) where I go "Hey honey, know who this is?" whenever a song comes on. She mostly doesn't get the answer right but sometimes surprises me. Well, I'm upstairs doing God knows what and she hears Bill introduce this song. I come down and she goes "Hey honey, know who this is?" thinking "I've finally stumped the fool". And I go, "you know, it sounds like Fats Domino". Shit!
would love to be in a steamy sweaty blues shack here in the beautiful south right about now
nothin' but cooool
