I was born when I met you
Now I'm dying to forget you
And that is what I know
Though I dreamed I would fall
Like a wounded cannonball
Sinking down with my heart in tow

Bright lights like white lightning
Who shot me down
Who will cut me down
I'm frozen in my bed till the day comes around
How I'm lost
How I'm found

There's a man all alone
Telling me his friends are gone
That they've died and flown away
So I told him he was wrong
That your friends are never gone
If you look to the sky and pray

Bright lights like white lightning
Who shot me down
Who will cut me down
I'm frozen in my bed till the day comes around
How I'm lost
How I'm found

Someone told me a lie
Someone looked me in the eye
And said time will ease your pain
But behold, when you fall
It's that same old cannonball
Coming back for your heart again

Bright lights like white lightning
Who shot me down
Who will cut me down
I'm frozen in my bed till the day comes around
And it may come around
Until the day comes around
How I'm lost
How I'm found

I was born when I met you
Now I'm dying to forget you
And that is what I know

Actually, give this woman a little credit here. "Dyin' to forget" you puts a whole different spin on it — a play on words. Still, she's got a good voice, and the rest of her work is fine.  I had to give it a 10 to offset you naysayers.  {#Yes}
At first glance I thought this was supposed to be belinda carlisle. this sounds horrible

I honestly don't know which came first. It may just be such a great line that everybody uses it.

Close, but Aerosmith actually sang "tryin' to forget you". Still that's pretty damn close.

The mere presence of the Indigo Girls = automatic 1.
Is that a political statement?

I like Brandi Carlile... and I often like the Indigo Girls.... but this one really grates on me. Sorry, ladies.

That's it. I have to shore up my collection of folky chick groups. Thanks Bill!
i can't get enough of this song and of the whole cd...
Please play more Brandi Carlile. She's another super talent from up yonder in rainy Sasquatch Country. Yowzza!
Brandi Carlile and Indigo Girls was a fantastic show!! I was first introduced to Brandi at that show... she blew me away!! Beautiful singer.
I first heard her on RP and immediately clicked over to Amazon and bought the CD for my wife. She and my 8 year old daughter both love it so I guess I'll have to click over and buy this one two. I think she has a soulful voice and on some of her songs sounds so sad.
This is a real yawner.
Pretty song. At low volume, the intro sounds like "Landslide"
