Lonely, have you ever felt lonely
Like you're floating on a deep sea
And the world is somewhere else?
And when you're trying to disguise it
It only makes it deepen
Trying to pretend will only weigh you down

Cold steel
Cold, cold steel

Searching, is this why everybody's searching
Looking to the sky
To try to touch a star
And when they get it in their hand
They never want to lose it
They get a monkey on their back and a pocketful of sand

Good times, I heard about the good times
I read it in a book
It sounded alright
But then I thought I saw a stranger
So I had to give chase.
She stabbed me in the back with a smile across her face

Just saw them "The Acoustic Strawbs" in my village (Piermont, NY) - they were astonishingly good, and they played this tune! Go Strawbs!

Sounds like Traffic's new lead singer is Cat Stevens. Still, not bad.

Strawbs - "Part of the union" Live (1973):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdOCWUgwiWs

"Maggie Thatcher destroyed the British trade union movement and Blairs new Labour continued with the destruction.
UK Unions now are just well payed jobs for the leadership and dont really represent anyone or anything,
Like the rest of europe the UK has a vast sea of unprotected workers who all get a poor wage.
The unions have gone for ever, and thsi song is now just a historical oddity"

"Now i´m a union man
Amazed at what I am
I say what I think
That the company stinks
Yes I'm a union man.

When we meet in the local hall
I'll be voting with them all
With a hell of a shout
It's out brothers out
And the rise of the factory's fall.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

As a union man I'm wise
To the lies of the company spies
And I don't get fooled
By the factory rules
'Cause I always read between the lines.

And I always get my way
If I strike for higher pay
When I show my card
To the Scotland Yard
This what I say.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die.

Before the union did appear
My life was half as clear
Now I've got the power
To the working hour
And every other day of the year.

So though I'm a working man
I can ruin the government's plan
Though I'm not too hard
The sight of my card
Makes me some kind of superman.

Oh you don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
You don't get me I'm part of the union
Till the day I die, till the day I die."

"Piqued" don't mind me...{#Whisper} I'll have to hear this one more time before I rate it. Never heard it before, but remember liking it during this particular set of songs.

Premature rating....don't be embarrassed, it happens to the best of us. {#Wink}

{#Lol} indeed.

When this was down low I thought the opening guitar licks were 'Can't You See' by Marshall Tucker
Walk Hard
I lke it.
I don't know this one. Something caught my attention and it turned out to be the Strawbs. Something compelling about it.
Lead singer is definitely Dave Lambert, but now that you mention it... ajlept wrote:
