Before leaving get to the bar
No one 'round here makes you pay
Never very good at goodbyes
So gentle shoulder charge, love you, mate
Love you, mate
Salford skyline blue
Always you could fly 'round any corner
But until you do
Love you, mate
No one 'round here makes you pay
Never very good at goodbyes
So gentle shoulder charge, love you, mate
Love you, mate
Salford skyline blue
Always you could fly 'round any corner
But until you do
Love you, mate

great track - amazing album
Nice.
I find it hard to believe I've never rated this song till now... Sublime!
Absolutely a 10.
This is disjointed and beautiful all at the same time. Elegant and broken. Boiling and cool. I think you get what I'm getting at.
Heartbreaking.
These lyrics are heartbreaking.
Masterpiece
Very cool song.
Simply, a beautiful song...
Where hath my sweet Deadwing gone?
Wake me up when it's all over, someone. Too much more of this sort of thing and I'll be stacking the z's well before bedtime...
Not a big elbow fan but this one is pretty good..!

I was just listening and this came on and I said, Elbow! What album is this on? Doesn't sound familiar. I like it. Then I looked and...good news! I have this CD. This has been happening a lot lately. I have so much music I'm starting to want to buy songs I already own.

I read somewhere that this song is dedicated to a friend of the singer's who died. It's actually kind of heartbreaking. Beautiful and haunting melody. I love the whole album!

I just bought the disc because I liked the song Weather to Fly so much, and now realize that I know quite a few Elbow songs. Thanks to RP for playing lots of selections from this disc.

Did you see your own ratings before posting this? hehe, talk about like/hate.. and you really hate a lot of songs eh?
But maybe you're right.. People are just not as enthusiastic and eager to rate middle-of-the-road semi-good songs. And it makes perfect sense.
But that can't be why this song gets high rating?
I like it. Especially the intro. 7.
Seems that most people just vote on songs they like or really hate. How else does this rate so high (7.5 at the time of this writing)? I give it a 3.

For $50 - $80 they have a nice sound, good volume with bass and treble control and a sub woofer that can shake the room.
I've got Altecs with a sub here at work - they can deliver when needed. Unfortunately, I can't crank 'em too often.

Elbow has always been, for me, the perfect synthesis of late Talk Talk, Radiohead and Travis. Lush, down-beat music and heartbreaking or knife sharp lyrics.
I am thoroughly impressed by this song.
