Everyday I wake up and wonder why
I'm alone when I know I'm a lovely guy
Birds come down from skies so blue
See all the beautiful things you do
Why can't I just get with you?

Every night I carry out my plan
Pray to God that one day I could be your man
Birds come down from skies so blue
See all the beautiful things you do
Why can't I just get with

You'd be my only friend in the world
Or you could just be my girl

And if I do run away from this life
There won't be much for me in the afterlife
Although I know that you don't even care
I'd rather stay in a world where
Birds come down from skies so blue
See all the beautiful things you do
Why can't I just get with you?

THIS.  Oh man, this.

laid back
All songs sound exactly the same.. Boring stuff. I liked them in the 90's.

4) Why aren't these songs on commercial radio?  They have tremendous potential to turn into overplayed pablum.

I don't think anyone here would consider that a compliment.
I was about to "ho hum" this one but realized that I've already done it once. That's a good sign that I HATE this song.

I just don't think jellied eels will ever be on the list.

Have you ever caught one? I did, and it was trying to get away so badly it wrapped itself around my fishing pole and pulled so hard it popped the hook through its own head, leaving a huge gaping hole, becoming an immediately dead eel.

I have to admire your storytelling ability! Although the visual was unwanted, your prose conveyed it compellingly. I don't think I want to try fishing for eels, ever, after reading that! EEW!

Yeah, why is that Bill?  Nothing good (ahem) on it?

woops, Ron Lane, not Wood, had to think, pretty old but great album

I bought a bunch of Eels CDs (through RP Links) based on listening here.  Agree with several earlier comments, and offer a couple of, perhaps, original comments.

1) Not everybody will get this music, but that applies to every kind of music.

2) E's music is a lot of "sweet little ditties", but they're pretty good sweet little ditties.

3) Lots of Eels tunes in movies, perhaps because of comment 2.

4) Why aren't these songs on commercial radio?  They have tremendous potential to turn into overplayed pablum.

Thanks for your time.

Ahh diddums. you poor thing, get a life....
eww
Nice little ditty. Which, however, stands for about 3/4 of the Eels' oeuvre.

I enjoyed this tune.
"Why can't I get with you?" Because based on your lyrics, every friend she has is telling her "RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!" almost as loudly as when the guy from Passenger asked her out. Sheesh. {#Hand}
How about kicking the setlist in the ass. It's Friday!

I had to look up Hugh's wiki page to see what you meant by 'your' universe.  Well played...

I like it more and more 8 > 9

  Sorry, I couldn't resist . . .

Ha, this is a fitting song for my current state...  Seems like Eels have a song for just about everything

Agree. Word by word
Sounds a lot like the song Adam Sandler plays on the Jet to Vegas at the end of The Wedding Singer.
