They told him, "Don't you ever come around here
Don't wanna see your face, you better disappear"
The fire's in their eyes and their words are really clear
So beat it, just beat it

You better run, you better do what you can
Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man
You wanna be tough, better do what you can
So beat it, but you wanna be bad

Just beat it (beat it), beat it (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it
Just beat it, beat it

They're out to get you, better leave while you can
Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man
You wanna stay alive, better do what you can
So beat it, just beat it

You have to show them that you're really not scared
You're playin' with your life, this ain't no truth or dare
They'll kick you, then they'll beat you, then they'll tell you it's fair
So beat it, but you wanna be bad

Just beat it (beat it), beat it (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it (beat it), beat it (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it (beat it, beat it)
Beat it (beat it, beat it)
Beat it (beat it, beat it)
Beat it (beat it, beat it)
Beat it (beat it, beat it)

Beat it, (beat it) beat it, (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or who's right

Just beat it, (beat it) beat it, (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated (Oh Lord)
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it, (beat it) beat it, (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated (Oh no)
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right

Just beat it, (beat it) beat it, (beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or who's right

Just beat it, (beat it) beat it, (beat it)

Well, don't you know that other kids are starving in Japan?

So, eat it, just eat it

Don't wanna argue, I don't wanna debate
Don't wanna hear about what kind of food you hate
You won't get no dessert 'til you clean off your plate
So eat it, don't you tell me you're full

Just eat it (eat it), eat it (eat it)

Get yourself an egg and beat it
Have some more chicken, have some more pie
It doesn't matter if it's boiled or fried

Just eat it (eat it), just eat it (eat it)
Just eat it (eat it), just eat it (eat it), ooh

It's sad how Michael Jackson blatantly ripped off Weird Al's song.

Okay.... Here's the deal...

When this came on, for a brief moment, I thought I was accidentally listening to something other than Radio Paradise.

Truthfully, MJ is a guilty pleasure, and Bill gets credit for mixing one of the most "pop" songs in with everything else on here.

Cheers,

Sterling

And 14 years later, I agree with this comment. Longtime listener to RP and I'm pretty sure this is the first time hearing this.. Classic
One cannot deny the incredible talent and genre bending artist that MJ was. All these "1" ratings are misguided and unfair. But wow, I've never seen so many 8's, 9's and 10's!! Can we have an 11 please?

Yeah, the solo...but Steve Lukather was the session guitarist
Thought I’d tuned into BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

Hell yes.  Too bad it hasn't been in regular rotation since 2010 (if we're judging by the comments from 14 years ago)
ALWAYS loved this!

sorry he should have gone to jail for molesting kids

Got PSD'd here from the New Pornographers. I'm not upset.
Thank God for the PSD button.

Yes! Nice surprise...
Sweet memories of the 80's...
But its not more than that...

WOW! I just checked Bill's webcam, and could have sworn I saw him doing the moonwalk in the studio.............. {#Bananasplit}

(PS Where is the moonwalking banana emoticon...?!!)

Wow ... I just checked out Wikipedia's list of best selling albums worldwide ...

This one sold 110 million copies —- over twice as many as the next one on the list, Back in Black.

Me three! So many MJ tunes so much better than this one.

Fun ... poppy ... the sound of an era.  The comment thread is interesting.  One can only imagine what it would have looked like had Bill played this a year ago.
i forgot that this song had a guitar jam. SWEET! Reminds me of being 13 and calling girls a fox. Keep mixin it up
Might have been a nice stroll down memory lane were it not for the Jacksonian death frenzy of—what has it been?—the last year and a half. What? The post-mortem orgy has only been going on since June 25th? Wow, it seems like a year and a half. Or forever.

Wow— MJ on RP?  Excellent!
Yeah! How about "Don't Stop" next time?

This one might just win an award as #1 Hater-bait.
I don't think I have seen a song's rating drop so fast in such a short time.

I gave it a 9.
WTF??  {#Eh}
I had to restart this to make sure I really had RP on or if some malicious virus redirected me to a pop station. This sucks
no one wants to be defeated...
Man, this just screams 'early 1980s'.

I agree, there is much better Jackson material that RP could be playing.  I could go for the next 25 years not hearing this again.

cant help but hear weird al on this one.

How come youre always such a fussy young man?
Dont want no captain crunch, dont want no raison bran
Well, dont you know that other kids are starving in japan

Oh yeah! I'm no MJ fan but this kicks some @$$!!!
Strangely cool.  :-)
Heck yesssssss.
Didn't like it then. Don't like it now, no matter how tortured he was. Not for me. Rather it was not played, but volume controls work.

Are you kidding?!!

Awesome!!

Oh, the memories.
This song should beat it from the playlist.

Just when I thought this set couldn't get any worse...

not a big MJ fan.... but this just made my day !! (9 for sure)
Wow— MJ on RP?  Excellent!

Thank you MJ, you brilliant, tortured soul, for all you gave us.
Rest In Peace.

This was 1983 ... Eddie Van Halen meets Motown ... absolutely destroyed what was left of race barriers in pop music by taking it mainstream.

Ok, Bill, now we need Don"t Stop Til You Get Enough.

I second you on 'Don't Stop', that song f*ing rocks

This was 1982 ... Eddie Van Halen meets Motown ... absolutely destroyed what was left of race barriers in pop music by taking it mainstream.

Bill, you're doing a great job —- Don"t Stop Til You Get Enough would make it a grand slam.

This!! This is what I want to remember Michael for.

Edited to add: I remember listening to this at top volume (in my crappy Mazda RX3, remember those?) in the summer when I was 19. That means he was only 22 or 23 when this came out.

Wankel on my friend, Wankel on.

This is okay. Great (if rather sterile) production by Quincy. Great guitar riff wrestled down into bland safety. Meh. What you want to remember Michael for is the VOICE. And he had it as a teenager, mostly. "I'll Be There" is more a monument than this ever will be.
Throughout it all, nothing could tarnish Thriller...
Thanks, MJ.

Thanks Bill for giving airplay to MJ.....like you say...great contribution to the world. Sad Day!
We should all dance around....this is such a great song! Love MJ

What a life. Amazing, sad, inspiring, strange... So many contrasting adjectives come to mind.

I looked for an emoticon, but nothing fits.
