While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.
I look from the wings at the play you are staging,
While my guitar gently weeps
As I am sitting here doing nothing, but aging,
Still my guitar gently weeps
Eff that POS. Clapton was washed up by 1970. Now he can't get any more attention playing his golden oldies, so he does it by being an ignorant fascist. I always immediately switch to another RP stream every time I hear this "musician". I'd even listen to commercial broadcast high rotation FM before I'd listen to him "play" music.
If everyone so harshly judged the artistic value or credibility by the metric of the artist's behavior we'd be missing a lot. Sexual harassment and abuse, betrayal, domestic violence, ethical violations of every fucking sort, pathologies -- jeez, half of all art would fly out the window. For me, epiphanies like Crossroads or Layla nullify a lot of EC's shitty attitudes. Go for yourself.
I may be the only one thinking this, but I believe Prince now owns this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y
So much better after having watched this
Are you talking about his "truth" that Britain belongs to white people, or the "truth" that vaccines are lethal forms of government mind control?

Brilliant version and brilliant work of Eric Clapton helping to organized this tribute...brave Eric Clapton who dares to speak the truth in this difficult times...

"Do we have any foreigners in the audience tonight? If so,
please put up your hands… So where are you? Well wherever you all are, I
think you should all just leave. Not just leave the hall, leave our
country … I don’t want you here, in the room or in my country. Listen to
me, man! I think we should send them all back. Stop Britain from
becoming a black colony. Get the foreigners out. Get the wogs out. Get
the coons out. Keep Britain white …"
That's not what Tom Petty would agree on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SFNW5F8K9Y Take a look at Petty's fake smile on 4:42 and compare it with the pure joy that Harrisson junior's face shows while Prince is doing his epic solo.
There's no fake smile, come on... he was about to open his mouth to sing and he was so concentrated in please George, and he did it and Prince hell did it.. It was a master piece. And we all should miss all those guys and show our 'respect' to them. Regards from Brazil.
It wasn't performed by The Beatles.
It.... it really was. George Harrison wrote it. It was on the white album.
You may not be the only one, but I'm guessing that you are in the minority. Prince is awesome to be sure but, in this case, he showed up once at a star studded gala to throw out a solo. Period.
(This goes out to SmackDaddy)
That could be because Clapton played guitar on the original Beatle version....
It wasn't performed by The Beatles.
But also, fuck Eric Clapton for telling people to not get vaccinated.

On the pandemic, maybe. Misinformation. Maybe. But EC, Van and many more musicians in UK and US are raging to make music for an audience, and to make it possible for stifled, starving musicians to make a living. The pandemic is surely bad, but no one anywhere seems to have verified that it is not a truly colossal government fuck up. In other words, not ONLY an act of nature or human immunity.
As for Clapton being overrrated and boring, your comment is a meh. Nothing Cream or Layla broaches any meh.
Enjoy the song or don't, that is up to the individual. I for one, think this is a great version. Happy to have heard it a few times here in RP. Thanks RP.

Eric and George were very close friends, so I'm sure he felt the loss more than most. They even remained friends after George's wife left and married Eric. George was such a peaceful person.
Big shoes to fill.. Filled.
Yes, the Purple One could and did own it!
RIP 4/21/16
Died without a will!! Head in the sand. It will take years to wort it ll out and the lawyers will get rich,

But if he played in a vacuum nobody would hear him. Might still be the best, though.

yep
Thank you Eric for your tribute to George! I can hear you weeping for him while we weep with you. :(
The original gets played a couple of times a month.
This is also very nice!!
I want to be blown away.

Probably because of how big of a role he played in creating the orignal.
Ich habe nichts verstanden! very nice version btw.
Nahh, I loved the nonchalance of it. He KNEW he was the man, threw the guitar away and walked away not needing any accolade. Respect.
You know, I have liked Prince since I first heard him. No mistaking his ability with voice or 3/4-sized guitar. Happy to learn one of those wailing Fenders is his.
He had some rocking women in his band (forget their names, unfortunately) that went on to score several TV shows, IIRC.
Or rather, he took it over.
Great performance. It did seem like the little chap stole the show and made sure they all knew it. Don't like how he walked off at the end, though.
That is a fact. No one rocks the guitar in this like his Purple Majesty.
How did I miss that? That was an amazing cover!! And yeah, Prince rocks it
That was THE shit

thanks bill ,
Why, he must be referring to the replacement Paul McCartney! Bill & Rebecca--you must play Revolution 9 backward!
Turn me on, Deadman... here's my own account as a phone-in participant to Russ' WKNR shows both weekends:

Thank you George where-ever you are. The concert with Clapton and Prince "jamming" this song was out of this world and
Prince didn't play 2nd fiddle to Eric. I still think Clapton is a huge schmuck for just moving in and taking Georges
wife .. GH and EC were best of friends,, so I guess George was a poor judge of character in both EC and his EX.
I'm not nearly as forgiving as I would have had "Louie" break every finger on EC's hands.....with a sledge hammer.
This is heartbreaking - and beautiful. Dhani looks like he's almost in tears. What a tribute to the late Mr. Harrison, who gave us so much good music, so unassumingly and unreservedly. RIP, George. I miss you every day.
Miss you so much, Cynaera... love this profound cover of a beautiful song...

Why, was it your woman? Get a grip SOB. It happens, and this is not amazing reportage. Your passive/aggressive rant is counter productive.

Uh, again I could be wrong, but I believe they were both, Harrison and Clapton, such good friends that there was a mutual understanding that included everyone involved......pinhead.
Well, if you watch the most wonderful "George Harrison: Living in the Material World" documentary, you sort of learn that really wasn't the case (the mutual understanding part). Clapton really does not come across well in that doc either. As my girlfriend put it, "that's the most I've ever heard him talk and I can't say I like him any more for it."
I fear your girlfriend may be right. And as far as the mutual understanding conundrum, I think back to the description of George walking away leaving his wife with HIM. Superb and moving documentary.

Truly an amazing performance. The whole concert was so moving. So much love for this wonderful man.
Saw it orig on PBS...bought it on the SPOT!!! Such a full sound...they ALL put out in his memory big time!
There was a Pince version that was good, but not here, he wasn't there!!...this was the show in the Albert Hall in London with Mc Cartney, Starr, Petty, et all....and this version with McCartney singing background on piano, Billy Preston on organ, etc., etc. was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

wow. checked it out. didn't realize prince could play that well. Excellent session!!
Prince is freaking amazing on guitar. Even Clapton admits it
That is awful. True, but awful.
Any order is the wrong order.
I think I've found your long-lost cousin...
You know that is who I was going for, right?

The vocals are different, but it's amazing how similar the guitar sounds!
That could be because Clapton played guitar on the original Beatle version....
Clapton's ego is so overgrown, he actually thinks he deserved her. . . he is the schumk !
