Some songs just have a feel about em, this one feels nice
This song always makes me think of late nights I have had sitting at the bar with someone and a late night, that I would like to have, sitting at the bar with someone.
Only a few songs can get me in that relaxed dreamy state. This is one of them. I can imagine some here feel the same.
Harmonica is very distinct. I wonder who this is in this song. Sounds familiar.

This sounds like a fresh soft pillow for a weary head...an 8.
Forgive if I've already commented on this, but I just had to say I love this. Kathleen is a Canadian treasure. It's a wonderful tableau of a song, so evocative. I also love her slightly detached but earnest singing style- few other vocalists are able to do that- recalls Suzanne Vega in the best way.
Wish Kathleen was a neighbor, I'd make cookies to hear this each day.

The echo/reverb on her voice and all instruments (except maybe her guitar at the beginning?) sets a lovely atmosphere for the lyrics ... and I can FEEL the angst in her voice.

When music captures an emotion you can't describe...I think this song is that.
She's playing in Pittsburgh on 8/26 as a part of the free Summer Concert Series. Will be there! I seen her years ago as an opening act. I cannot remember for whom, my mind says Cowboy Junkies, but I know my memories are not great.

Looking at tour dates right now...just decided that I have to go see her live. That's the kind of reaction that I love from great music...makes you feel something so powerful that you have no choice but to act. Whether its protest or passion, it stirs you to move.

There are a good number of extremely talented, gifted musicians and songwriters out there. Kathleen Edwards is one of them.
Can't say that I've heard her or of her. But, being one who enjoys just quality sounding music of ANY genre, she does have quite a set of pipes and talent. She does sound mighty nice. Don't know of Mr. Prine, either. May God bless him and bring him back to full recovery.

Have seen Kathleen a couple times, and she's unreal. Such a sweet voice, such a talented songwriter.
Her web site says she is running a coffee shop in Ottawa named Quitters.....
