Radio Paradise at its finest
One of the great contemporary griot musical voices. Made all the better in French in this case. Sumptuous ensemble accompaniment.
ok thee stunning songs in a row.. uff

Our love will finally take a break from its struggle and resistance
So it can survive the bad weather in mildness and calm”

Beautiful and uplifting.

Thank You for the translation!  NICE TUNE!!

Slowed down a little today and listened more carefully to this one.

Sweet.
Gorgeous music! Melodic & uplifting!

I segued from some Radiohead dreck. Thom York was singing in ENGLISH and depressingly lamely.  This fellow is expressing in whatever language and is a thousands times more lilting, as is the melody and chorus. Yes, a hundred times yes. Can you dance with a woman to this music? Does it hit the happiness switch?

the song is indeed lifting and a great one too. But to compare it to Radiohead, it sounds like a comment a Katy Perry/Scooter etc listener would make. Uplifiting can encompass a broad spectre. Radiohead or any other "whinny" band can be uplifting, depends on your state of mind/emotion.

French, Bambara, Cape Verdean
Love the "world music" that gets in the mix. Refreshing and Keita is aweaome.

That other language might be Portuguese.  A lovely song in a mix of languages!  8

Yes, it is Cap Verdian Portuguese, mixed with some french and some other dialect I can't identify.
Keita sings in Manika dialect!!

Language sounds like Portugese to me.
One of all time favorites. I first saw him at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. Beautiful, effortless vocals. He is an albino and has suffered much prejudice in Mali, his homeland, since albinism is considered a curse.

Salif Keita comes from Mali. It may be Bambara. Not sure :)

Impressive artist, brilliant album.
Sweet. Don't need a translation. Very relaxing.
Love it but I'm struggling to find a translation that makes sense.
Thank you again RP and the listener who uploaded this gem. Cesaria Evora and Salif Keita !!

An icon of West African music. We Africans are proud of him.

It's just dawned on me, the two of them are close neighbors, separated only by a bit of sea. No wonder they sound good together.

Ha ha, yes I'm listening it the 2ndtime (download) its getting a bit simple, repetitive the 2nd time, none the less pleasant to my ears but not to often, once every 3 months i guess.

There are two persons singing (besides the backing vocals). First one is male and second is female.
Sure it's her. Her voice is unmistakable!

His voice is amaizing..pure voice..
just went from an 8 to a 9, only one more move until Bill makes a goddess like status................just sayin'
First time I've heard this....WOW!!  This is REALLY nice!!

Undecided betweeen 8 and 9 so settled for 8 for now, reserving, of course, the option to up-it later.

Thanks, Bill, for exposing me to stuff I probably wouldn't hear otherwise.   {#Clap}
Just did 2 things:
  • Turn up the volume
  • Bumped my score from 9 to 10
And now... relax and enjoy :)

I don't have any such problem as the previous poster.  This song is exquisitely beautiful to my ears.

It's one of those I wish would go on for twenty minutes or more.  I can just close my eyes and groove along.

It doesn't matter in the slightest that I haven't a clue what they're singing about.

I feel like I love and hate this song simultaniously

Salif Keita - Yamore, Live-solo-acoustic

КПМцерт в Union Chapel Hall в 2002 гПЎу

"Salif Keita, singing in Malinke and French, expresses his feelings for his beloved one and exhorts her not to leave him because he cannot live without her. Cesaria, singing in Cape-Verdean Portuguese, speaks more generally about faith in progress, peace, struggle and resistance for a better future where all torments and tempests will be over."    nakyriaz

"Delicious fusion of Cultures through wich three voices of excellence sing true feellings and speak about Love to all human kind. Should we learn from Africa and we would live on a better World."    osintrense

There are French bits.

Portugese, more likely.

There's also a bit of portuguese (definitely), and I think I hear English. Right?

Also, man how I love when RP introduces me to great African artists like this guy.
