I lit my love and watched it burn
Asking nothing in return,
except the lessons I've been learned
Holding crazy faith

I've been touched by that bright fire,
Down to the root of my desire
While the smoke it rises higher
Holding crazy faith

Your not asking if I love this man,
I know you don't
You don't believe you can
Yet I've seen love open like a dancers fan
It's crazy I know but my faith says so
It tells me.

Am I an old fool for hanging love?
Would I be a fool to be long gone?
When has daylight gone to dawn
Oh my crazy faith

The questions will not let me sleep
Answers buried way too deep
At the bottom of our loveless game
Made by crazy faith

Your not asking if I love this man
I know you don't you don't believe you can
Yet I've seen love open like a dancers fan
It's crazy I know
But my faith says so
It tells me

Love your loose and loose your love
Let the hope fly from the glove
Do not search the skies above
Search your crazy faith

Love is lightning
Love is ice
It only strikes the lucky twice
One so you will know the price
Once for crazy faith

Your not asking if love this man
I know you don't you don't believe you can
Yet I've seen love open like a dancers fan
It's crazy I know
but my faith says soooo....

I was reading a great long piece on Tony Rice in the NYT and apparently Alison has a treatable form of dsyphonia. …

Amazingly interesting, kcar: "Dysphonia is a broad clinical term which refers to abnormal functioning of the voice. More specifically, a voice can be classified as 'dysphonic' when there are abnormalities or impairments in one or more of the following parameters of voice: pitch, loudness, quality, and variability." Alison seems to have overcome her abnormality, big time. I wonder what this angel's specific "impairment" is/was (pitch, loudness, quality, or variability—can't imagine she'd have more than one of these! :-).
Rarely is there a better marriage of a singer-fiddler and band as this, IMHO. Seriously. Even without the fiddler part.
Can't help but tap my toe and bob my head to this relaxing rhythm and voice. What talented folks.{#Guitarist}
They're still musically ascending. She gathers the best talent around her stellar voice.

Thanks,

I never really liked her voice, but still listen to her renditions........goes for quite a lot of people, I suppose.
In her case, she has a crystalline vocal quality which doesn't satisfy my audius meatus, akin to Emmy Lou Harris, but on the right day they are equally perfect.

yeah, a perfect example of less is more
This album is really beginning to grow on me

Agree with all the raves for these performers—but I have to tip my hat to the songwriter as well—just grand.

Voice of an angel.
Not a single negative comment on this song to date.
And none from me.
Truly spectacular talent in this entire ensemble.
Heard them in concert maybe 12 years ago.  From the first notes, they had me on an amazing musical and emotional ride.  True quality.
Sorry Bill, I have to turn off RP for a bit.  This song is so perfect, I just can't hear anything else for a while.
Wow, what do ya know?! Musicians, instruments, sweet vocals, good song,...but no dramatic overproduction.
Yes, incredible musicians!

JUST QUALITY!
Great singer backed by the very best musicians of this genre
I eschew this genre (long story) but her incredibly sensual voice allows me to make exceptions.

With nothing taken away from incredible vocal stylist/guitarist Tyminski, I think the instrumental spotlight belongs to dobro player Jerry Douglas here.

I don't know about that.  Lot of brilliant contributions on New Favourite and let's not forget that Dan "Man of constant sorrows" Tyminski is also that lazy boy who wouldn't hoe corn.  They were all awesome at Hard Rock in London a couple of years back.  An absolutely brilliant album.  Itake t"the lucky one as my self chosen theme tune.

Man she can hit every note perfectly, sweetly, and effortlessly.

I was reading a great long piece on Tony Rice in the NYT and apparently Alison has a treatable form of dsyphonia. Tony has it much worse, along with a host of arthritic and neuralgic ailments that have greatly limited his playing over the recent years.

But yes, she has a beautifully sweet voice.
VERY NICE
thx alison very good lyrics and song!!

Jerry Douglas is great.  If you EVER have the chance to see him live, do so!

One of those rare artists that has such a pure voice....she sounds just like she's in the studio even when performing live.  A true professional.

If posting first is your most important priority, I'd vote for going somewhere else that doesn't have so much traffic. Otherwise, just don't worry about it. It's about the music, not who gets there first... {#Mrgreen} And I agree - very nice song! {#Hug}
Very Nice!
I love this song! The rest of this CD is also great.  Jerry Douglas on Dobro is simply awesome...
