Back in the early '70's as a little child my elder brothers had a tape of The Beatles (and tapes of other bands). For summerholidays we went to France by car, which had one of the first radio-cassette-players. Unfortunately my brothers forgot the others tapes to take with them, so the entire holiday we only heard The Beatles play. So I thought The Beatles were French and still so many songs of them I associate with that summerholiday. A warm memory, though.

There's an undeniably strong sentimental feeling to this song. The fact that its John's tune makes it pliable today. Had it been Paul's...it would be difficult to digest.

I think this album was pivotal in that it began the transistion from Mop-Top pop idols to their next phase. It bridges the gap nicely between teen sensation and what was coming with the Revolver/Sgt Pepper artistry. Still one of my faves.
Interesting to note that Rubber Soul was the first LP after meeting Dylan, and being introduced to ganja.

Music is taste, so that's not a very good argument. If you can tell me why somebody would like a low fidelity recording with all of the (screechy) vocals on one side, then I'm open to attempt at understanding.

The same month and year he was interviewed in Life Magazine and he said outrageous things like the world would be a better place if our world leaders took LSD! The Reverend Billy Graham prayed for him and said he should see a psychiatrist!

Actually, "Daisky" is right. I'm just reading a John Lennon interview and he used to call Rubber Soul as the "Pot days". No hard drugs back then if we do exception of the "Pills days" (nothing to do with LSD) back in 1962.

No actually only John and George had already been using LSD after George's crazy dentist friend drugged John,his wife Cynthia,George and his soon to be wife Patti's cofee when they were over his house for dinner earlier in the year. Paul didn't do LSD until the summer of 1966 and he was using cocaine during the recording of Sgt.Pepper.
Paul was also the first rock star to openly talk to the public about his using LSD. Just looked at the track listing, and I think I just might give every track on there a 10. And I'm not even that big a Beatles fan. Really. This album is just so great, for me the best they ever did.
