No one to talk with.
All by myself.
No one to walk with,
But I'm happy
On the shelf.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.

I know for certain
The one I love.
I'm through with flirtin',
It's you that I'm thinkin' of.
Ain't misbehavin'.
I'm savin' my love for you.

Like Jack Horner
In the corner.
Don't go nowhere.
What do I care?
Your kisses
Are worth waitin' for,
Believe me.

I don't stay out late,
Don't care to go.
I'm home about eight,
Just me and my radio.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.
Ain't misbehavin',
I'm savin' my love for you.

I Agree! That is why we come here.  Thanx RP!

YES!  Very true!
One of my favorite American songwriters Hans down. You just completely blew my mind by brining it to us performed by the man himself! Thank you!

This makes me miss the old intro theme song to "This Old House" also by Fats Waller. They had to modernize it.

Louisiana Fairytale

I was watching a local jazz band cover this song one Sunday, at brunch. The lead told a story about Fats going out and consuming a bit too much gin one evening. He ended up in the slammer. The warden was a big fan and had a piano shipped to the jail. Fats wrote this song at that time.
I can't confirm the story but I really like how it was told.
Kinda works- Ain't Misbehavin' in the confines of a jail.

Thank You for this story!  ...true or not!
There's a lot about this song that's great, but what strikes me as transcendent is the piano intro. I don't give a lot of 10's, but this is one of 'em.
C’est de la grande Classe.

Same here, rockaholic - in fact BillG could probably play FW and RH back to back and it would be goodness.  Long Live RP and eclectic play lists!!
Even better than most today...9+
Fats died 78 years ago today.

Thanks for honoring his memory, Bill.
Fatsy Watsy Waller.  Just love this.  Timeless.

Suggest Louis Armstrong Plays W.C. Handy - (Long Gone John).

You could say that about a recording of cats being fed into a woodchipper.
Given the current PC environment, shouldn't he be listed as "Plus Size Waller"?
Have to confess it like Leon Redbone’s version better.
GREAT! Play it more often!!!!!!!!

This track was likely mastered on a wax cylinder.  Great fidelity, considering the technology.

More likely:

transcription recorder

But still, very good fidelity!

Back when being ten pounds overweight got you labelled as “Fats”
Everything about this song is perfect.
Recorded ninety years ago. Wow.

Hard not to like when the performer is the one having the most fun and ain't shy to shine it; the best example of what The Music is for...

I wouldn't begin to know how to cut a rug to this, but it's fun trying.!
Every once in a while, one of these old classics grabs you by the collar and insists that you listen.

Thanks Bill.  {#Clap}

Now I need to go straighten my collar.
"I'm saving all my love for you ..."

According to Wikipedia, this is the original recording from 1929.  How does Bill find these things?
My grandma was 7 years old and it still rocks!
Fats was very underrated. Brilliant, witty lyrics and one helluva jazz musician

I guess you missed out on the free mp3 downloads he was doing the week before.  Unfortunately, Best Buy will sell out of their digital time machines by mid-1930.

And Erroll Garner

A genius at work!! He wrote this;  one of the most well known jazz songs ever! Everyone sang this tune. Why do you have so few of his works on RP?!!

A little more jazz would def be great......your library has some major deficits in this sector. Modern Jazz Quartet for a start..........
Anything from the Ain't Misbehavin' soundtrack would be a welcome addition.

Very timely playing this!  I just attended an event last night previewing clips from the upcoming Ken Burns Documentary "Prohibition".  Will be fun to see if they include this song — it will air on PBS Oct 1, 2 & 3.

Why isn't anyone called "Fats" anymore?
Great song!  Thanks Bill!
